The latest title from Kyle Thompson, developer of popular graveyard keeping, the Crypt Custodian and Islets, has arrived in the form of Well Dweller, a gorgeous looking Metroidvania.
Starring Glimmer, your feathered friend, armed with a matchstick, you’ll need to explore a massive world to find the seven golden feathers to rescue your flock and defeat the evil Queen.
It releases on 22 September 2026 for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles. It’s also available day one on Xbox Game Pass. Why not check out our review?
Well Dweller: Unlock the “The King’s Cap” Achievement / Trophy
To unlock the “The King’s Cap” achievement / trophy, you will need to “Buy a festive hat”
You will get the opportunity to buy this during the Autumn Forest area of the game (the orange area on the map, towards the top of the map).

A Festive Hat
It’s pretty hard to miss this, but as you explore, preparing for the King’s arrival (*cough, boss battle, *cough). It’s the next room after you get passed one of the Orb & Pillar puzzles (see image below).
You’ll come across a mouse-y creature in a wooden cart selling festive hats for 10 in-game currency. He will ask you if you want to buy said hat, say yes to earn the achievement / trophy.
Don’t worry about your street cred, it’ll disappear the next time you die.
