The latest title from Kyle Thompson, developer of popular graveyard keeping, the Crypt Custodian and Islets, has arrived in the form of Well Dweller, a gorgeous looking Metroidvania.
Starring Glimmer, your feathered friend, armed with a matchstick, you’ll need to explore a massive world to find the seven golden feathers to rescue your flock and defeat the evil Queen.
It releases on 22 September 2026 for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles. It’s also available day one on Xbox Game Pass. Why not check out our review?
Well Dweller: The Forest King Boss Guide
The Forest King is the boss of the Autumn Forest area, this is the orange area at the top of the map.
You will have quite a narrow platform to fight the Forest King, staying in the centre. Thankfully, he doesn’t move around, so you can smack him at every opportunity.
However, there is a lot of environmental hazards to dodge throughout this fight, so you’ll have to get your dodging on. Occasionally, walls will appear to either side of the platform that you will need to use to dodge spiky leaves (razor leaves, if you will) that rise from below. You’ll will need to hover across between the walls to dodge. Towards the end, this will happen again, but there will only be one wall to take refuge on.
In between the environmental threats, he will cry tears of pain, or drop rocks on you that fire out more spikes on the platform. You can stand on said rock to dodge the spikes.

Defeating the Forest King will net you the “Fancy Feast” achievement / trophy. Head right out of the boss arena to grab a golden feather.
