The latest title from Kyle Thompson, developer of popular graveyard keeping, the Crypt Custodian and Islets, has arrived in the form of Well Dweller, a gorgeous looking Metroidvania.

Starring Glimmer, your feathered friend, armed with a matchstick, you’ll need to explore a massive world to find the seven golden feathers to rescue your flock and defeat the evil Queen.

It releases on 22 September 2026 for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles. It’s also available day one on Xbox Game Pass. Why not check out our review?

Well Dweller: Defeat Shrine of the Seven Sons Boss Guide

You’ll take on the Shrine of the Seven Sons boss in the Midnight Drench area of the game. It’s the dark blue area on the map.

I found this boss to be one of the trickiest. There’s a lot going on, and it can feel a bit overwhelming. But, if you pay attention make use of all the skills and abilities you’ve learned to this point, you’ll eventually be triumphant.

It throws a lot of electric attacks at you that need to be dodged, slid past or evaded. Use the walls on the side to wall climb up and hover across to avoid some of the larger ones. In particular, it will fire a beam in the centre and electric will shoot out that goes across the floor and up the walls. Wall climb and hover is your go to for that.

It also fires a big, bouncing electric ball, when it hits the floor, it fires electric out on the floor. Use the walls to help dodge this. The ball does track your location and will aim for you, so keep moving.

It also fires boney arms out of the floor. A pink beam of light indicates that they are about to appear, from where the light appears. These appear fairly quickly so prioritise moving out of the way as soon as you’re able.

Once beaten, you’ll unlock the “Stormy Night” achievement / trophy. Head to the left from the boss room and you’ll snatch up a golden feather.
