Gears is back baby! The Coalition have returned with Gears of War: E-Day the latest entry in the iconic XBOX franchise. A prequel that tells the story of Emergence Day, the day when the Locust army reveal themselves. Marcus, Dom and other Gears band together to take on this new threat in the city of Kalona as the world of Sera changes forever!
Unlock the “Okay, Boomer” Achievement
To unlock the “Okay, Boomer” achievement you will need to “Carve-up a Boomer.”. This means you need to take a chainsaw to one of the Boomer type enemies that you’ll regularly encounter.
I got this on Act 4, Chapter 1 – “Hope & Ruin”, when you are fighting through the grounds of the destroyed church. I believe you’ll need to do damage to the Boomer to make it susceptible to your chainsaw. I also came up from behind to take it out, not sure if that’s a requirement.
In the section where I got the achievement, a chain gun Boomer was attacking, and I did damage with a grenade and several rounds from the Gut-Puncher. You can see damage visibly on the Boomer but there’s no definitive way to know how close it is to death. You’ll need to use your judgement.
I approach from behind, with chainsaw revved and it triggered the animation and a glorious execution took place, unlocking the achievement.
