The Plague Tale titles have some of the most visually impressive locations of the last decade, Requiem remains one of the best looking games out there 4 years after it’s 2022 launch. From everything we’ve previously seen about Resonance including the seas we knew it was shaping up to be another beautiful game.
Now, with little over a month until launch of the third Plague Tale, French developer Asobo Studio have shared a stunning new trailer which features many of the locations we will get to explore as swashbuckling Sophia. Taking over as lead for the new adventure, Sophia has been redesigned for Resonance to have “an almost feral look” and now we know more about where she’ll be heading.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Locations Trailer
Locations for the new adventure will include the iconic Italian city of canals, Venice which appears under a sunny glow early in the trailer. Many of the caverns and monuments that Sophia will traverse are showcased too. We know there will be a minotaur theme to the game and here we see what looks like a summoning circle for one. If somebody removed Sophia and told me this was the new Tomb Raider, I’d probably believe them – and that’s a compliment.
To capture some of the games majestic environments, the developers have also confirmed in the trailer that Photo Mode will be available at launch.
The game is going to be very different to the previous titles which featured Amicia and Hugo. Resonance is a more action-oriented title compared to the stealth-based nature of its predecessors. Sophia’s journey also takes place outside of France, where the rat plague ran wild in Innocence and Requiem.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches August 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S and PC, as well as day one into XBOX Game Pass.
