Gears is back baby! The Coalition have returned with Gears of War: E-Day the latest entry in the iconic XBOX franchise. A prequel that tells the story of Emergence Day, the day when the Locust army reveal themselves. Marcus, Dom and other Gears band together to take on this new threat in the city of Kalona as the world of Sera changes forever!

Unlock the “Payback’s a Pitch” Achievement

To unlock the “Payback’s a Pitch” achievement you will need to “Take revenge on an Armored Wretch that stunned you.”

Armored Wretches are the same as the enemies that a small and on all fours that crawl up and over walls and such, except they are armoured (as the name might suggest). Armoured Wretches do an attack where they scream loudly at you, in E-Day this stuns you and makes the screen look and feel disorientated. You first encounter them in Act 3, Chapter 1, and immediately get stunned on their introduction.

If you can chainsaw the Wretch dead in front of you, you’ll get it straight away.

When a Wretch has done this to you, you need to take out the one that made you disorientated with its attack. I’m fairly sure you need to chainsaw it for the achievement (it’s the most satisfying thing method anyhow), whilst you are still experiencing the disorientation. You won’t get the achievement if the screen returns to normal.

I got this during the Corpser boss fight in Act 3, Chapter 2 – “Enemy Lines”. Wretches and tickers will appear about halfway through the fight. There are plenty of other opportunities where they appear too. It can be tricky to ‘make’ the attack happen, early on I tried to make it happen by not attacking an armored wretch but either my team mates killed it (when playing solo), or it just kept attacking me.
