Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss – His Master’s Voice Trophy Guide

The investigation and deduction-based gameplay of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss lends itself to some fun and sometimes challenging trophies/achievements. Although while you’re busy tracking down a missing deep-sea mining crew and dodging Deep Ones, it’s not always easy to keep track of them. So, here is our His Master’s Voice trophy/achievement guide for Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss.

Check out our Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss Review for our full thoughts on the game.

His Master’s Voice Trophy Guide

The His Master’s Voice trophy/achievement is unlocked in Chapter 5, The Citadel, and requires you to reach the Star of Shamash without killing the Guardian. This is the Low Corruption Path, which can help unlock the Mens Sana trophy/achievement for finishing the game without exceeding the corruption threshold.

After the cutscene where Noah sees the Guardian upon leaving the Tombs, turn to your right and look behind the Ocean-I equipment to find a metal disc on the floor. Take it and analyse it to unlock the Yith Alloy frequency, which we’ll need.

After this, there are several more steps that we have covered in two other guides for the Linguist and Beyond The Senses trophies/achievements. These will help you to understand the Yith language on the steles and figure out how to see the Guardian’s invisible tentacles, respectively.

Once you can see the invisible tentacles, go to the top floor of the Laboratory and cross over to where a visible tentacle creates a path from a hole in the wall up to the structure housing the Guardian.

Walk around the edge to find a platform sticking out with some belongings on the ledge. Use the frequency to reveal the invisible tentacles and find a path across to an overgrown room that leads to the House of Words.

Inside the first room is a strange metal chest with another metal disc on it. Take the disc and watch as the chest closes. The discs you carry are magnetic, and chests you put them on, or doors you hold them out near, will open. Also, read the stele on the table to get the Tablet: Register of Matter in your Vault, we’ll need that later.

Take the two discs into the next room, and find a magnetic door that won’t open while you hold one out. Place one disc on the floor near the door and hold the other one out to force the door open and gain access to the Forge.

Once you’re inside, you need to pick the right metal to put in the forge to make a new sphere that will hypnotise the Guardian. The metal you are looking for is Zirconium, and you learn this by solving the Deduction you get from the stele in a chest inside the Forge. Use the Tablet: Register of Matter clue you picked up ealier.

Place a bar of Zirconium in the forge, then hold the magnetic disc near the interface to activate it.

Take the Yith Orb and make your way back through the House of Words and walk back across the invisible tentacles. Use the Yith Alloy frequency to locate one of the discs to insert the orb into.

After the brief cutscene, the His Master’s Voice trophy/achievement will unlock. As part of the Low Corruption Path, this will lower the Corruption you have incurred.
