The investigation and deduction-based gameplay of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss lends itself to some fun and sometimes challenging trophies/achievements. Although while you’re busy tracking down a missing deep-sea mining crew and dodging Deep Ones, it’s not always easy to keep track of them. So, here is our Better Than Pandora trophy/achievement guide for Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss.
Check out our Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss Review for our full thoughts on the game.
Better Than Pandora Trophy Guide
The Batter Than Pandora trophy/achievement is unlocked during Chapter 6, The Last Door, and requires you to open the door without letting the matter spill out. This is the Low Corruption Path, which can help unlock the Mens Sana trophy/achievement for finishing the game without exceeding the corruption threshold.
If you need any help figuring out how to get into the Room of Imprisonment and using the Star of Shamash to teleport to other parts of the level, check out our Open Sesame and Where Am I? trophy/achievement guides for help, respectively.
NOTE: This is a truncated guide that skips a few steps of investigation. If you would like us to add the extra steps, drop a message in the comments below, and we’ll update the guide as soon as possible.

Once inside the Room of Imprisonment, you need to engrave all six sides of the Star of Shamash with the correct symbols in the right positions, using the first symbol you engraved to see the Yith visions and teleport as a point of reference. The ones you need are:
- Imh’Tar on the north face (top of the star)
- Vulghred (Master of the Forge) on the south face (bottom of the star)
- Azdryggh on the Northeast face (opposite the first engraving made)
- Mhexart on the west face (right of the first engraving)
- Thultris on the Southwest face (left of the first engraving)
Here is a video for reference:
Once you reach the point where you have engraved the correct symbol on each face of the Star of Shamash to open the last door, this is where you work towards the Low Corruption Path. All you need to do is find Five Metallic Cubes that can be changed into spheres using the Electrum frequency and slotted into the five metal plates surrounding the last door.

The first cube is on the floor by one of the staircases leading down either side of the last door.

Make sure you have space to carry at least two Metallic Cubes. Use the Star of Shamash on the pedestal in any of the rooms you can access to teleport to the Secret Lodge. Place the Star on the pedestal to the right of the human skeleton and pick it up when it activates to teleport yourself to the Mausoleum of the Smith. In here, you will find several more Metallic Cubes you can use.

The pyramid objects in the slots along the stairwells are also cubes, just changed using the Pyrite frequency to change shape again. Grab one of these if you still need another to have five.

Once you have all five slotted into their metal plates using the Electrum frequency, go up to the pedestal above the last door and place the Star of Shamash on it the right way, so that the constellations are in the correct positions.

The Better Than Pandora trophy/achievement will unlock during the following sequence. As part of the Low Corruption Path, this will lower the Corruption you have incurred.
