The investigation and deduction-based gameplay of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss lends itself to some fun and sometimes challenging trophies/achievements. Although while you’re busy tracking down a missing deep-sea mining crew and dodging Deep Ones, it’s not always easy to keep track of them. So, here is our Against The Tide trophy/achievement guide for Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss.

Against The Tide Trophy Guide
The Against The Tide trophy/achievement is unlocked during Chapter 2, The Excavation, and requires you to cross the maze without using the artifact and pedestal. This is the Low Corruption Path, which can help unlock the Mens Sana trophy/achievement for finishing the game without exceeding the corruption threshold.
After restoring power to the PIT station and using the anchor’s Copper frequency to find the entrance to the underwater labyrinth, you’ll be in a chamber with a round pedestal in the middle with a recess on top. Explore the caverns, and use either the Copper or Scratch Mark frequency to find a hidden tunnel behind some plumes of smoke. (You can also use the ropes tying the anchors together as a visual aid.)
Continue following the frequency passed the body of Arif El Fassi to find a small Ocean-I camp outside of the water in a small cavern. Search the camp to find a tablet with information on the water currents obstructing certain tunnels.
This is actually all you need to know how to brute force the Low Corruption path, as swimming through the tunnel, trying to find the way around the oncoming current, can be achieved through trial and error.
The tunnel you are looking for is back through the tunnel hidden by smoke, and at the other end of the large chamber. You’ll recognise it from the black plume of smoke to its right and the white substance at the top of the entrance.
If you want a less frustrating solution, then we suggest following the rest of the investigation and returning to the station, which has now rebooted, making more of it accessible.
The goal is to get into the Transfer Room, but there are a few steps to get in, as a leak is blocking us from entering.
Head below where you rebooted the PIT station, and you’ll see a monitor stating ‘Drainage Error’ with pipes next to it. Analyse one of the green masses dotted around the station to get the Extra-Dimensional Sap frequency.
Equip the frequency to your sonar, and it will highlight the pipe that needs replacing, just outside the Storage Room, where you can find a replacement titanium pipe.
Once you’ve replaced the blocked pipe, return to the terminal with the pipes and press the button to stop the leak and open up the Transfer Room.
Open the module on the left to find a body inside that drops a piece of metal you need to scan to get the Hybrid Mucus frequency.
Return to the maze with the Hybrid Mucus frequency equipped, and follow the handprints through the tunnel with the water current for a clearly highlighted path.
Whichever way you get past the water current, you’ll unlock the Against the Tide trophy/achievement after Noah stops being pulled by the opposite current. As part of the Low Corruption path, this will lower the Corruption you have incurred.
