The investigation and deduction-based gameplay of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss lends itself to some fun and sometimes challenging trophies/achievements. Although while you’re busy tracking down a missing deep-sea mining crew and dodging Deep Ones, it’s not always easy to keep track of them. So, here is our Linguist trophy/achievement guide for Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss.

Linguist Trophy Guide
The Linguist trophy/achievement is unlocked during Chapter 5, The Citadel, and requires you to translate the language of the great race of Yith.
Once you have seen the giant, eye-covered Guardian that blocks your path to the Star of Shamash, walk towards it and go to the left under its tentacle to find a small Ocean-I encampment.
Analyse the broken stele, the stone slab with yellow writing on it, to unlock the Gold Symbols frequency.
To the left of the camp is a long hole in the ground that seems to have bits of strange mucus floating in the air across it. There is an invisible path to cross here to reach the other side; use the mucus to guide you.
Head inside the Laboratory, and use the Gold Symbols frequency and look for a stele to the right of the entrance. It prompts KEY to say they can be translated; you just need to find the other half of the stele you found back at the Ocean-I encampment.
Fortunately, it is in the centre of the laboratory, amongst the debris.
Next, go to the Vault and connect the two halves of the steles to solve the deduction: “How to translate these strange alphabetic symbols?”
With the deduction solved, you can now understand the Yith language, helping you progress through the game, making unlocking the His Master’s Voice trophy/achievement easier, as well as unlocking the Linguist trophy/achievement.
