Halo Campaign Evolved – Jiralhanae Conservationist Achievement Guide

Halo Campaign Evolved Guide

As well as many Skulls and Terminals to find in Halo: Campaign Evolved, there are several miscellaneous achievements / trophies to unlock. In this guide we will show you how to unlock the Jiralhanae Conservationist achievement / trophy for avoiding killing any rampaging Brutes in New Mission 2. This can be a little tricky but here are some pointers to make this much easier.

New Mission Two

This achievement / trophy is obtained on the second of the new prequel missions, New Mission 2. You can unlock this on any difficulty but if you’re replaying for achievements / trophies, be sure to have the game set on easy difficulty to make your life much easier. You will need to play the whole mission rather than starting at Rally Point Bravo or later.

For those who don’t know, Jiralhanae is the official Covenant name of the Brutes. The ape-like creatures that only appear in the new prequel missions. Brutes (Jiralhanae) are littered throughout the mission and often appear in groups, like below:

In these new missions, Brutes will enter rage mode when you or a teammate shoots the orange device on their chest. Once in rage mode they will charge at you and your teammates until put down. When they’re in this mode, you must not kill any yourself. Rather, leave them for your AI teammates to kill. Or, to be extra safe, if a Brute becomes enraged you can reload a checkpoint. This will not void the achievement unlocking.

Johnson and the other AI Marines in the prequel missions are powerful, with Johnson respawning infinitely. With the use of his huge sniper, ‘Sophie’, he will make quick work of the Brutes charging at you. Just run around near to Johnson and he’ll get them off your back.

However, leaving the killing to be done by your teammates will be a slow process. Here are some extra tips to assist with this achievement / trophy:

  • You will know when a Brute is raging as they’ll stop shooting and only charge attack.
  • Raging Brutes will attack one another, leave them to it.
  • It’s recommended that when you need to shoot Brutes, shoot their legs or feet. It’ll take longer to kill them but shooting the bottom of their bodies reduces the risk of a stray bullet hitting the orange device on their chest.
  • Don’t use explosive weapons, there is a risk you can trigger their rage.
  • When Brutes attack your teammates, you can melee them in the back to quickly take them out.

Another thing to watch out for are the Brutes contained in cells. When you enter rooms with the cells, immediately look for and kill the Elites about to release them using the control panels:
