Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen – How To Start The Dark Arisen DLC

The long wait is over, with the next entry in the not-confusing-title-scheme of Dragon’s Dogma finally out. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is the DLC to the high-fantasy, open-world RPG by Capcom. It’s a beloved IP with a good following, including us! DD2: Dark Arisen (not to be confused with Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen) has many brand-new content and systems that are only available through the DLC, so if you want to access them, here is how.

How to start the Dark Arisen DLC

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen can be started as easily as arriving at Vernworth and speaking to Captain Brant at night. From there, he’ll have a list of quests for you to work on, and two that are highlighted are the ones for the two main pieces of content in the Dark Arisen DLC.

“About the new Arisen…” is the quest required to start the journey into Norgan and comes with the recommended level of 40. Meanwhile, “About the uncovered ruins…” will give you the quest to find the location of the first lost rite dungeons and comes with the recommended level of 20.

Lost Rite Dungeons

As previously mentioned, the quest that Captain Brant gives you leads you into a dungeon which you can complete as early as you accept the quest, even if the recommended level is 20.

After completing your first dungeon, you’ll receive an item that shows you where the rest of the dungeons are on your map.

However, actually completing them all requires you to have progressed far enough into the main story within Bakbattahl and receive the Empowered Godsbane Blade. After this first dungeon, all the other dungeons are either not possible to complete or not at all accessible even if you meet the pre-requisite conditions

The main story quests are called “Convergence”, which will give you the dulled Godsbane Blade, and “A New Godsway” will turn that dulled Godsbane into the Empowered Godsbane Blade.

Norgan

The quest called “Chilling Tidings” to start your journey into Norgan suggests you visit Waldhar, a magistrate stuck in Vernworth’s dungeons. The purpose is to glean more information about Norgan. However, to gain access to him, you will need to have previously completed the quest called “The Caged Magistrate”. This step is completely optional, and if you prefer, you can head directly to where the map maker is for Chilling Tidings and meet with this gentleman.

He’ll warn you and ensure your conviction in solving the mysteries within Norgan, “abandoning” your goals here in the mainland; however, don’t fret, you’ll be able to teleport back and forth between Norgan and the mainland.

After taking the flight on the Griffin, good luck and welcome to Dark Arisen!
