Dragon‘s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen – How To Unlock Transmog

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is the DLC to the high-fantasy, open-world RPG by Capcom. It’s a beloved IP with a good following, including us! It’s the type of game where curiosity may kill the cat, but only if you’re not careful. Most of the time, curiosity will reward you with cool side-quests, new items, or collectibles! The game doesn’t tell you about them until you’ve found them, so you must be curious!

However, no matter how much you comb through the world of DD2 and its new area, Norgan, you are bound to have missed something, much like us! But here’s one cool thing we found in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.

How to unlock Transmog

Everyone knows that the true endgame in any role-playing game is fashion. Especially for a game like Dragon’s Dogma 2 where you can hire other people’s Main Pawns, it’s important to create that cool first impression, and the best way to do that is not with skills and the quality of your character… no, of course not; it’s by how cool you look!

The ability to choose what to wear without it affecting the stats of your gear is finally available! Being annoyingly vocal to develops do work! Hooray! Here is how you unlock Transmog in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen

Step 1: You must have the Dark Arisen DLC

This is a must. While there are many new cool things that were added in the base game with the 4.0 update, the ability to Transmog is exclusive to Dark Arisen, as the quest and NPC that give it to you are located in the new area.

Step 2: Progress the main story in Norgan

The quest system in DD 1/2 is a bit ambiguous in regard to how certain side-quests are unlocked. Without spoiling too much, however, I was in the middle of the main story quest where we are tasked with resurrecting the Fallen Dragon. I received the associated quest line during this time.

Step 3: Get the quest “Reaching the Far Shore”

While in the Norgandian Settlement, Jiera will approach you regarding retrieving a tome that’s been lost around Lake Norgan and tasks us with retrieving it. One huge hiccup, though, due to brine, we are unable to approach bodies of water, and so the goal now is how to cross the lake.

Step 4: Completing “Reaching the Far Shore”

This is a multi-step quest and requires you to speak to several people to get the info on how to cross the lake. I will briefly outline the steps here to expedite the process.

-Speak to Jiera, to Ryatt, then back to Jiera

She’ll tell you that the fimbl is the key to crossing the lake. However, you need to weaken it several times so that they retreat to their lair in the middle of the lake.

-Head north of the mountain stronghold

You’ll need to fight him for a bit. Once doing enough damage, he’ll fly away and towards the next area, which is the mountain stronghold.

-Head to where you first fought the Fimbl inside the mountain stronghold

Similar to the previous step, you’ll need to do some damage to him here. Afterwards, he’ll fly off again and on to his final location: Lake Norgan.

-Head north of Lake Norgan & defeat Fimbl

The best way to get to where the game wants you to interact with the Fimbl at Lake Norgan is at its north side. So head towards the path just south of Beorcan Stronghold until you reach some structure with ballistas.

Since the Fimbl is in the middle of the lake, the only way to finally defeat him is by using the ballistas. There are several located here, and you’ll need them, as he’ll attack you at long range and will inevitably destroy some of the ones you’re using. Use all you need until Fimbl falls.

Go back to Jiera, and she’ll tell you to wait 1 day for the effect of his death to take place and freeze a bit of the lake to get to the shore where the item lies.

-Go back to Lake Norgan to get the item

Follow the path from where the ballistas were to where the Fimbl died. From there, head towards another frozen path that leads to the landmass and grab the item!

-Speak to Jiera, then to Hal

She’ll be happy you grabbed it and suggests giving it to Hal, and he’ll be able to make use of the information revealed from the treatise. Doing so will give him the ability to tailor and you the ability to finally look cool!

Transmog time!

How Transmog/Tailoring works

I don’t have Rowan Arc in my storage, so it’ll cost 4500 every time I want to tailor into it; otherwise, it’ll be 80% off. No items are consumed during this process

Tailoring is simple. You can change the appearance of weapons, shields, helmets (not masks or glasses), chestpieces, and legs that you currently have equipped or ones that are in your inventory for a very small fee.The appearances are taken from gear you’ve previously or currently own. However, if you currently own the item, taking its appearance will have an 80% discount.

There is one HUGE caveat: you can only change the appearance of gear obtained as relics/spoils, not ones acquired from the base game.

When you use the appearance of an item, it doesn’t consume it, so you are free to change out of and into it again without fear of losing the item.

The true endgame has begun!
