Gundam Rogue Orbit Announced at Summer Game Fest

We’re deep in the summer showcase season, now that the annual Summer Game Fest was held yesterday. If you missed the show, don’t worry – we got your back with this handy guide of everything that was announced! Full transparency – several of us at GSC had our Summer Game Fest Bingo cards as we watch. One of the titles that I was not expecting was a new Gundam title – Gundam Rogue Orbit.

OK, hype, right? I even questioned the entire time “Is this a Gundam game, or just a new Armored Core title?” But I was proven wrong when get the glimpse of the title at the end of the announcement trailer. Bandai Namco has truly provided a feast for the eyes with this upcoming title from a fabled mecha series. Seriously, I have been watching the occasional Gundam series since 2002.

Content from the Trailer and Launch Date

So, in the trailer, we were treated to a calm voiceover, that is abruptly interrupted by mech combat and the sounds of screams. And explosions. Lots of those.

Moments before impact…

What follows is a cinema for the eyes as we watch a Gundam take on large…abominations, with the shredding of guitars to accompany the fighting. And yes, for the curious – that’s Mick Gordon back there! We were also provided some what appears to be gameplay footage, that is very reminiscent of Armored Core. The whole trailer ends with a backlit view of the Gundam’s pilot

Who is the individual in the mech?

So, when can gamers expect Gundam Rogue Orbit? Sadly, I think it’s going to be a while. As of today, the game’s Steam page notes a planned release date of 2027. So, that could either be just a short six months away…or a painfully long year and a half (depending on when in 2027 we’ll see this title).
