In fact, the wealth of American history is broken up into distinct eras, like the Wild West, and stretches deep down; a bizarre dungeon of Americana.

Solve point-and-click puzzles to help Scott progress further down, and call upon your friendly canary friend when a puzzle has you stumped. Assist others you find on your way to improve Scott’s life as well, take on epic bosses, and play retro-inspired arcade games to affect the world around our unlikely hero.

Grim Trials

Those looking for a new roguelite with good music to dive into may find themselves wanting to explore Grim Trials. Grim Trials presents itself as a heavy metal roguelite where you play as a grim reaper in training. Play as Avelin, someone who has left the most important person in your life behind. 

This demo is available on multiple platforms, which is great. Having played it on both PC and Switch 2, they both play well. Personally, I am a keyboard and mouse player, and I will say this felt slightly smoother than the controller. That doesn’t mean the controllers aren’t as good; in fact, they are good. Mouse and Keyboard on Steam (as compared to the controller on Switch 2) just felt a bit more natural. 

Overcome trials and tribulations beginning the day after you died and take down the Sinful Souls. Craft new items, potions, and equipment along the way and get to know those who are in the underworld when you try out Grim Trials on your favorite gaming platform!

Lou’s Lagoon

Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia

Help the Marsupilamis in their next colourful side-scrolling platforming adventure, and try not to fall victim to the cursed dance!

A strange melody has made all of the creatures in Palombia dance uncontrollably, with the source of the destructive song being none other than the Mummy Queen. Now it’s up to our spotty saviours to defeat the undead matriarch and her hordes of minions before it is too late.

Play the whole side-scrolling adventure solo or in two-player co-op, and switch between the game’s three heroes, Punch, Hope, and Twister, on the fly to make use of their unique abilities. Traverse four brilliant biomes, from lush jungles to busy city streets, to uncover the Mummy Queen’s whereabouts, and keep your eye out for secrets scattered throughout each level.

Along with Battle Dojos offering minigames to fuel some friendly rivalries, it looks like Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia will have loads of family-friendly fun when it launches next month.

EONA

Dare you explore Melusine’s Castle and escape with the one thing that can save your mother?

You are the titular Eona, a young girl exploring and surviving an elaborate and magnificent castle, the home of the merciless witch Melusine. The witch has cast a spell on you, splitting your soul between your real body and that of a puppet. Using the Puppeteer’s Cross, Eona can control the many puppets and automatons that litter the castle’s chambers and halls, and use them to venture deeper into the witch’s domain.

An overgrown treehouse, a forgotten theatre, a silent chapel; all manner of places are hidden within the castle’s walls, each with their own dangers. Stay quiet, observe, and do your best to avoid getting caught and falling into Melusine’s cursed clutches. Hauntingly atmospheric, EONA feels like a Brothers Grimm fairytale in every way, and we just hope it has a happy ending.

Channelling the movie magic of the 80s, Lifted is a cinematic 3D platformer with a cast that is dealing with the same limbless situation Rayman has. You play as the slacker Ari as he helps Professor Raventhorpe adventure across different time periods using his “Anytime Elevator” to find the lost Tiara.

Jump, swing, and climb your way through a variety of historical eras, solving environmental puzzles and uncovering secrets, and get swept up in this wacky adventure, fully voiced and full of heart!

Wanderburg

From exploring castles to driving one! In the minimalist roguelike Wanderburg, you pilot your own castle keep in a world of roaming fortresses and fleeing villages, all mounted on giant, spiked wheels and powered by steam.

Scour the lands for smaller settlements and flocks of livestock to consume, all while trying to stay out of the path of other, larger wandering burgs so you can survive and build up your modular medieval keep into a rumbling fortress. Experiment with different pieces, choose whether to man your towers with cannons or wizards, and unlock new modules and vehicle types between each run.

Man your castle with certain captains and power it with various artifacts, and become the mightiest burg to wander the land. But remember, there’s always a bigger burg!

You are the Legend called One, on a quest to save the beautiful and surreal desertscape you call home, Corel, from the Paradox corruption. With your power over water, you can turn yourself into a sphere of water to slide and jump around, launch devastating tidal waves, and use your momentum to cover more ground, or cause greater destruction!

Master fluid movement and frenetic combat, mixing water with other substances like lava and toxic waste to create powerful chain reactions, and take care when crossing into alternate versions of reality where the rules change. Meet allies spread across Corel, all with various motives for joining you, and face off against the Paradox and its leader, Maddock, and make sure that there is something left of Corel before this is over.

With a full voice cast and stunning visuals to round it off, Fading Echo is a game worth dipping your toe in!

Gennady is a visceral and visually striking 2D roguelite platformer where you tear across randomly generated levels, smashing your way through cosmic horrors and the environment, all because they wouldn’t let you enjoy your shows.

The entire game is hand-drawn, with splashes of neon colours giving this noir world a psychedelic edge which matches the game’s bizarre world. Your body is your weapon, so use it to build momentum to reach insane speeds and unlock even more deadly attacks, eventually reaching a state of invulnerability; just make sure to keep destroying stuff!

Trade currency for strange artefacts and upgrade your weapons and character to form unique builds during each run. Death is only temporary, with the option to keep the artefacts you collected for the next run, letting you start the next run stronger than you were before.
