Square Enix has announced a new batch of merchandise in the lead-up to the Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary, alongside a lottery to commemorate the game’s milestone. This announcement comes only days after the reveal of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles at the PlayStation State of Play, a remaster of the original 1997 turn-based JRPG, which is set to arrive on September 30th.
First off, let’s look at the new merch items revealed to celebrate Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary!
We have a brand new tote bag sporting a full colour embroidered image of FFIX’s signature Black Mage, Vivi Ornitier, and one of his iconic lines from the game.

The tote bag is made entirely from polyester, and measures width 345mm × height 345mm × depth 110mm. It is available to pre-order for ¥3,960, and will be released on August 16th, 2025.
Next up is a cute, zip-up pouch perfect for things like stationery or makeup, with the same embroidered image of Vivi on one side.

This pouch bag is also made from 100% polyester, and measures width 235mm × depth 9mm × height 160mm. It will also be released on August 16th alongside the tote bag, and is up for pre-order now at ¥3,300.
The last piece of standalone Final Fantasy IX merch is a new gaming mousepad with a full colour illustration of the main protagonist, Zidane Tribale’s original crew of dashing thieves, the Tantalus Team!

The mousepad, which measures at width (approx.) 800mm × Height (approx.) 400mm, will be released on September 30th, and is available for pre-order at ¥3,850.
This is just the latest merch drop that Square Enix has released for FFIX, ever since they launched a website dedicated to celebrating the much-loved JRPG’s 25th anniversary. You can pre-order these items from the official Square Enix online store.
But we now also have details on the Final Fantasy IX lottery, which was announced around the same time as the site’s launch. The event is scheduled to begin on July 7th, the official day that marks Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary, with fans able to take part at “Lawson, bookstores, hobby shops, Square Enix official stores, etc. nationwide.”
Below are the items included in this Final Fantasy IX lottery:

First, we have the adorable Vivi Ornitier plush doll!

Next, we have a collection of 7 new arrangements of chiptune songs from FFIX, including “Someday I’m going home” and “Song of Memory”.

Following the chiptune soundtrack on CD, we have the tissue box cover, made from faux leather and ideal for keeping small items in. An excellent way to keep your desk tidy!

Four mini plates decorated with close-ups of some of the new characters from the original character designer for FFIX, Toshiyuki Itana.

Next after the mini plates, we have five different postcard sets depicting famous scenes from FFIX, and illustrations by Toshiyuki Itana. Each set includes an envelope with a Mognet motif.

The sixth lot for the Final Fantasy IX lottery is 10 rubber keychains depicting the main cast and fan favorites like General Beatrix and Kuja.

The final item in the lottery will be given out as a gift to the last lottery winner, a full colour illustration of the cast, measuring 273mm × 270mm.

This most recent announcement comes only days after the last one, where Square Enix unveiled a trio of 18-valve music boxes. Before that, they revealed a ceramic Vivi mug, vinyl record, and acrylic figures, and before that, some shoulder bags, purses, and a wearable Black Mage’s hat!
We have said it more than once before, but all of this attention being put on the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX is no doubt appreciated by the fans, but also doesn’t help by fanning the flames of the much rumoured FFIX remake. The fact that we have now seen the Final Fantasy Tactics remake, which was in the 2021 Nvidia leak alongside Final Fantasy IX, will likely be all the fanbase will need to confirm their suspicions. Whether or not Square Enix has something in store remains to be seen.
We here at the Gamer Social Club will keep an eye out for any more merch drops and news about Final Fantasy IX, so be sure to check back regularly!
