Friday – where Play.NYC really gets started. And this year’s Play.NYC (running in conjunction with AnimeNYC, was no exception to the rule. More gamers, more games, and more titles to try out! And today’s game we’re going to highlight is Scramble Star Crossing from Dusk Sharp.
Before we hop into Friday’s top game for me, be sure to check out our previous day’s coverage here.
Alright, we have that out of the way – let’s take a peek at this star-studded game (literally – there’s ton of stars).
Friday’s Highlight – Scramble Star Crossing
Scramble Star Crossing is an “action-puzzle adventure”, keeping the stars at bay as one of several “Star Clearers” in Match-3 gameplay. Yes, think games like Bejeweled and Candy Crush, but with, you know, an actual story!

We start as Alice, a rookie Star Clearer who finds herself surrounded by hero Clearers that she used to admire from afar. In this annual Star Clearer Competition, Alice will need to navigate not only the stars…but rivalries, friendships, and competitive pressure.

Scramble Star Crossing is slated to feature both a Story Mode, along with several online player battle modes, including Versus, Tag Team, and Free-For-All. Myself and my better counterpart at GSC, Candy, played a little competitive 1 versus 1 Star Clearing. We called it a friendly tie (though I think I did end up one match ahead of her).

Scramble Star Crossing offered some fun and turn-your-brain-off gameplay that we all need sometimes. Colors go burr and there’s cute artwork to accompany the gameplay to boot. What’s not to enjoy?
Scramble Star Crossing, while not coming out within the next month or so, does have a demo up on their Steam page to try hands on. I, for one, will definitely be featuring this one on a future iteration of the GSC Demo Disc.
Be sure and join us tomorrow for our coverage from Play.NYC’s Saturday events, as well as my highlighted title.
