The finale of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series has been revealed. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will conclude the trilogy in Spring 2027. During Summer Games Fest 2026 gameplay of Vincent Valentine, Cid, and more was there to close out the show.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the follow-up to 2024’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and is set to complete the trilogy that began in April 2020 with the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake. The series is a ground-up re-imagining of the genre defining 1997 JRPG, incorporating new story elements and an action focused combat system. Rebirth brought the series to an open-world setting, and Revelation seems to be expanding on this even more.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi and Vincent Valentine voice actor Matt Mercer took to the stage during Summer Game Fest to showcase the first trailer for the game. The two didn’t stop at the first look. While also confirming its long speculated title the duo also gave us a glimpse of Vincent and Cid in combat. It also revealed an even more expansive open world, now traversable via Cid’s Highwind airship. While we may not see a certain heroine, it is clear her presence lingers throughout the trailer.
Multiple new gameplay systems were also on display. Some of these include recognizable locations from the original game such as Yuffie’s hometown of Wutai Village, and Cid’s Rocket Town. Hamaguchi also took this moment to share that this will be the first entry in the Remake series to debut on multiple platforms simultaneously at launch.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will release for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S in Spring 2027.
