XBOX’s annual showcase calendar is busier now than it ever has been, starting with the now established Developer Direct, a presence at gamescom, and of course the marquee June Games Showcase.

For the entire lifespan of the platform, XBOX have struggled to break into the Japanese market but have never threw in the towel out there. During the XBOX Series X|S generation, Microsoft have delivered an annual broadcast from Tokyo Game Show with big game reveals – no less than the phenomenal Forza Horizon 6 – and announcements from big Japanese and Asian developers.

XBOX Tokyo Game Show 2026 Date and Time

The show will take place on Thursday September 17, 2026. The broadcast will air at 3am PT / 6am PT / 11am UK (BST) / 7pm Japan.

So, what can we expect to see at the show? Details on the show are light, but you can expect to see more XBOX’s key Asian partners including SEGA and Atlus – Persona 6 being one of their most hotly anticipated games since it was unveiled at the June showcase. Gungrave G.O.R.E Blood Heat was announced at the XBOX show in Tokyo last year and we’ve seen little since so it’s a possibility it may resurface then.

Personally, I’m really hoping to see more from Hideo Kojima’s XBOX supported horror, OD alongside another horror being developed in Asia, Agni: Village of Calamity. Indonesia developed Agni has appeared at an XBOX show before, as the opening title during last Octobers’ ID@XBOX showcase and continues to impress me in their Steam page updates.

XBOX Japan FanFest 2026

Also taking place is the XBOX Tokyo FanFest, one of the many global events. The FanFest is now open for sweepstake registrations. Those successful in the sweepstakes will be invited to formally register. The sweepstakes are only open to people domiciled in Japan.
