If you’re yet to play the Plague Tale games, they are some of the most exciting, emotional and excellent games of the last few years. 2022’s Requiem, a follow up 2019 original, Innocence broke the hearts of players as Amicia and Hugo traversed a disease and rat infested France in a gut-wrenching journey of survival. Those who have made it to the end of Requiem may still be recovering from the trauma to this day.
Upcoming spin-off, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy which debuted at the Xbox Games Showcase last summer arrives this year. The prequel sees players take control of fan-favourite, Sophia who is on a journey to a Minotaur’s island to face them and a long-buried curse.
Last month, French developer of the franchise, Asobo Studio released the first in their developer diary series detailing more about Sophia and her ground-up redesign for her own adventure. A plunderer and survivor, Sophia will have a more rugged and youthful appearance for her title which takes place 15 years before Requiem.
Now, the developers have shared more images of the island adventure including some stunning coastal spaces and ancient ruins we will get the chance to explore (click to enlarge):

Asobo haven’t released more information about the game alongside the new screenshots, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to hear more about what’s to come for Sophia. From what we can guage here, Sophia will be partially accompanied with someone for the journey, and there should be multiple different locations around the island to delve into. With the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 and Summer Games Festival just around the corner, I expect it won’t be much longer till we hear about this Day One Game Pass title.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches this year on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5 and PC.
