Valor Mortis releases on 13 October 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. It is also available day one on Xbox Game Pass.

The Deserter Side Quest Guide

You will pick up “The Deserter” side quest during Chapter 5. The nearest Lantern location is the “Under the Bridge Lantern, you’ll recognise it because you’ll cross under a bridge after the Lantern’s location.
Cross under the bridge and follow the path on the other side. You’ll enter a small hut where you will pick up a note on the floor; this starts the side quest.
Follow the path around until you come to a fork in the path. Take the path to the right and keep following it round until you reach a grapple point (glowing blue orb). Use that to cross a gap and get higher. You’ll need to use another to get over some large shrubbery in the way. This will land you at the top of a slope, with a tough enemy in front of you. He’s standing in front of a wooden building, with some beehives to the left.
You’ll need to take on this enemy to be able to continue safely. He’s quick and does high levels of damage. Be sure to parry when you can, and use the stasis mutation to slow him down. Don’t forget to use any items you might have (grenades, whetstones, etc.).
Head inside the beekeeper’s hut and you’ll grab a note from the desk that alerts you to the fact that what you’re looking for to complete the quest has been broken into three pieces, hidden in beehives in the area.

Leave the hut and look to your right; there are a number of beehives. Avoid the ones marked with a red ‘X’; these have angry bees in them that will do damage (they don’t do loads of damage, so it’s not the end of the world if you get it wrong.

Return the way you came and continue on up the trail (taking the left on the fork). As you continue forward, you’ll see a fortress/camp in front of you. Before you get to the border of the fortress, look to your right to see another set of beehives.
Again, look out for the red ‘X’ and grab the second piece.

Once you’ve made your way through the camp, you’ll have to cross the bridge that you went under earlier. Take out the big cannon monstrosity and progress to the large gate blocking your way. Use your stasis ability to solve the puzzle and get past the gate. As soon as you enter the next area, you’ll be walking down a street full of wooden houses on either side.
Take the first door on the right and head through the house into the back area to the final set of beehives. The one you need is sneakily to the left of the other three you’ll likely see first.
Grabbing the last part of the figurine will complete the quest. You’ll earn the Bountiful Harvest II amber as well as unlocking the “Hand in the Jar” achievement / trophy.
