Spirit of the North 2: Skill Points Locations Guide

Use our Spirit of the North 2 Skill Points locations guide and earn yourself the ‘Clever Fox’, ‘Incredible Fox, and ‘Fantastic Fox’ achievements / trophies.

Spirit of the North 2 has just been released and brings our furry fox friend back to save some lost animal Guardians. By mending their pain, by exploring the land, and defeating them in boss battles, you’ll help heal the land. Not only that, but you’ll gain allies to take on the final boss, Grimnir, the Shaman.

There are many puzzles and secrets scattered throughout the world of Spirit of the North 2, some trickier than others. You’ll encounter puzzles, tasks, and hidden areas to gain your self skill points. These grant you a range of different buffs, such as reducing fall damage, increasing spirit energy, or the ability to carry more wisps.

You’ll know you’ve found a Skill Point as the game will tell you with a big “Skill Point Unlocked” message across the screen.

Spirit of the North 2 Skill Points Locations Guide

You’ll unlock the “Fantastic Fox” achievement / trophy for unlocking 45 skills on the skill tree. There are 48 total skills on the skill tree, so you don’t need to find every skill point to unlock the achievement / trophy. I had three spaces left on my skill tree when it popped.

Boss skills (6 skills)

You’ll unlock six of them as you work through the main campaign:

  • Blessing of the Raven – for defeating the White Raven boss (wind geysers restore Glide stamina)
  • Blessing of the Stag – for defeating the Stag (Spirit Bloom extends Spirit Form)
  • Blessing of the Ram – for defeating the Ram (ensure cold climates)
  • Blessing of the Wolf – for defeating the Wolves (endure hot climates)
  • Blessing of the Bear – for defeating the Bear (grants access to the Palace of Peace)
  • Blessing of the Shaman – for defeating Grimnir (gratitude).

Relic location skill points (11 points)

You’ll also gain access to a skill point in a chest in most of the locations where there is a relic. You need to collect the relics to progress the campaign. If you’re struggling to find them, they are indicated by the large red ribbon of smoke in the sky. They point to a relic location. These are:

  • Misthaven – Gates of Numhjhuk – this is like the tutorial relic. In the tunnel after handing in the relic, you have to go this way to progress. In a chest surrounded by light.
  • Misthaven – Seer’s Crypt.
  • Mosswood – Mosswood Mine
  • Mosswood – Mosswood Vaults
  • Mosswood – King’s Tower
  • Stormhaven – Tomb of Heilda
  • Stormhaven – Thelenok Hall
  • Frigid Peaks – Sunfire Passage
  • Frigid Peaks – Sunken City of Outcasts
  • Ashlands – Molten Heart Crypt
  • Ashlands – Grimhold Sanctum

Ancient Trees (9 skill points)

You’ll also earn a skill point for cleansing the Ancient Trees that are dotted around the map. Use our Ancient Trees location guide to find where they are.

Skill Point Locations

The rest of the skill points listed in this guide are found around the map in different locations. These aren’t listed in the best order to find them, but rather the order I found them in, split by region.

Please note that sometimes skill points are inside buildings / structures. In those instances, the exact location on the map isn’t accurate.

Misthaven Skill Points

Misthaven (1/3)

Located at Pieth Homestead, towards the south of the map. As you enter the location, you should see a wall with a big hole in in the upper part of the wall, and a smaller crawl space below it. Crawl through and drop on to the chest.

Misthaven (2/3)

This is located in the cave after you defeat the White Raven boss. You’ll use this cave to eventually access Mosswood, the second area. As you progress in the cave, the skill point is in a chest, surrounded by glowing crystals to the back right of the cave. You should see a blue-ish glow from that particular area of the cave.

Misthaven (3/3)

Located in Mulfara Falls. You’ll need the dash ability (after defeating Ram) to get in. It’s at the end of the puzzle. Look for a small crawl space in the corridor.

Mosswood Skill Points

Mosswood (1/2)

In the City of Mosswood (where you take your relics). It’s on the lower floor, an interior. Look for this entrance in the image below.

If you’re struggling to find this one, from the Statue of Eona in the centre of the City of Mosswood (facing the Temple of the Stag entrance), head to the left, up the stairs, and keep going until you go under the big archway. Once through there, head right and jump over the gap, or use the small stone bridge that’s slightly to the left.

Once across, veer right towards the wall of the central building, and you should be able to drop down to the area where you can see the first image below.

Mosswood (2/2)

In a chest as you complete the Forbidden Crypt, which is located towards the lower left of Mosswood.

Stormvale Skill Points

Stormvale (1/7)

In the Mines of Atur, in the lower part of Stormvale.

Stormvale (2/7)

In the Ruins of Hyskar, above the scroll (Words of Memory) in a chest.

Stormvale (3/7)

In the Lost Tunnels, next to Ram’s Cradle, as soon as you enter the big circular room, before going down.

Stormvale (4/7)

Also in the Lost Tunnels, continuing from the last skill point. Follow the tunnel down and continue until you reach a big room with water geysers and a pool of water at the bottom. Carry on down and locate the door that’s on the left. Use the rope pull to activate the door and open it.

Go through and continue forward into a big space where you can go left or right. Head left (as in pic above) and use Dash through the ram door as the cave opens up you’ll spot a pretty noticeable rock pool in the centre of a room. Use Rune of the Drowned, or dry dropping on top of the chest to open it (it’s underwater).

Stormvale (5/7)

Inside Stormgate Fortress.

Stormvale (6/7)

Inside Thunderhold Dungeon. The entrance is on the cliffside behind the Stormvale portal.

It’s in a large chest locked behind a cell door. You’ll be able to open two on the left with a pull handle that’s near the slope you come down. In the first cell on the left, there’s a chest. In that room with the small chest, there's a small crawl space into the next cell. There are some torches; grab one and head back up the slope to the left, through a hole in the wall at the back left.

There should be a fire geyser-type thing. Light the torch and head to the circular centre room where you came from, and light all the torches. That will reveal a pull rope back where the cells are to open the cell door with the large chest in it.

Stormvale (7/7)

Complete the Trial of the Elders.

Frigid Peaks Skill Points

Frigid Peaks (1/3)

Before you enter Frigid Peaks proper. This is whilst you’re in Wolves Pass, in between Stormvale and Frigid Peaks. When the path splits into two, one blue on the left and one orange on the right. Stick left and climb the obstacles up. Where the two paths meet at the end (high above) will be two chests. One has a skill point in.

Frigid Peaks (2/3)

On top of the Temple of the Wolf, in a pretty easy-to-spot chest.

Frigid Peaks (3/3)

In the Arctic Fox Guild, look for the small opening next to the gate to crawl through and get the skill point.

The entrance to the Arctic Fox Guild is from the top of the mountain. You’ll arrive there naturally after defeating the Wolves boss. The portal catapult things will land you right at its location. Use Spirit Fox to form the statue to open the entrance.

Ashlands Skill Points

Ashlands (1/4)

In the ‘main room’ in Grimhold Fortress.

Ashlands (2/4)

In the crater of the volcano, at Mount Asgu Moor. You have to into the crater and find the hidden cave. Would recommend using the Lava Walker rune. There is something of a path in and out, but the smoke makes it hard to see. You could use the rune that turns you into a wisp to scout it out too.

Ashlands (3/4)

South of the right island, in the Ruins of Asgu Moor. Across from the Obelisk, it’s in a chest on the tall structure. I used Spirit Jump to get to it.

Ashlands (4/4)

In the Ashlands Snake Shrine. There’s a guide if you’re struggling to get in.

I hope that the Spirit of the North 2 skill points locations guide was useful. Be sure to look out for our other Spirit of the North 2 guides.
