Spirit of the North 2: Ancient Tree Locations Guide

Find all the Spirit of the North 2 Ancient Trees and earn yourself the ‘Legacy of Kotho’ achievement / trophy.

Spirit of the North 2 has just been released and brings our furry fox friend back to save some lost animal Guardians. By mending their pain, by exploring the land defeating them in boss battles, you’ll help heal the land. Not only that, but you’ll gain allies to take on the final boss, Grimnir, the Shaman.

There are a lot of puzzles and secrets scattered across the world of Spirit of the North 2, some being trickier than others. This includes the Ancient Trees which are scattered throughout the world of Spirit of the North 2.

Ancient Trees

You’ll unlock the “Legacy of Kotho” achievement / trophy for cleansing the nine Ancient Trees in the game. To do this you must have Wisps in your inventory (the flying red orbs). To cleanse an Ancient Tree, approach the small trees that are located around the main Tree and use a Wisp when prompted.

Doing this to all the smaller trees (usually between three to five smaller trees depending on the area), will cleanse the larger Ancient Tree and earn you a skill point for your efforts.

The Ancient Trees are indicated with this symbol on the map:

If you’re not sure, they look like this:

Misthaven (1/1)

The Misthaven Ancient Tree can be found towards the bottom of the area.

Mosswood (1/2)

Towards the top of the area.

Mosswood (2/2)

Bottom left of the Mosswood area.

Stormvale (1/2)

The first Stormvale Ancient Tree is on the upper left area of the map. This is near where you first enter the area.

Stormvale (2/2)

The second Stormvale Ancient Trree is located to the middle right of the main Stormvale area.

Frigid Peaks (1/2)

This one is underground in the Thal’Dulian Glacier (see green waypoint on below image). To get there, head south from the Frigid Peaks portal and look for a hole in the ground. You’ll go on an underground stream to where the Tree is located (you’ll need plenty of wisps to cleanse this one, five I think).

Frigid Peaks (2/2)

This Ancient Tree is near a lake, next to the Kalu Nol village.

Ashlands (1/2)

The first Ashlands Ancient Tree can be found in the northern area.

Ashlands (2/2)

Head south from the previous one to locate this one, closer to the coast.

I hope that was useful. Be sure to look out for our other Spirit of the North 2 guides.

  1. Thanks for this. I’m struggling to find all the smaller trees in Kalu nol and the second one in Stormvale. I spent 30 minutes looking for the little trees today but can’t find anymore. Any advice please?

    1. If I remember rightly (maybe wrong ofc), the Kalu Nol ones being around the lake and amongst the village area. Your wisps appears if they’re close to the tree so keep an eye out for that.

Similarly, I think the Stormvale one, near Thelenok Hall (?) is in and amongst the buildings.
Might be worth getting up high and looking for the trees. That wisp rune (that allows you to become a wisp) might be useful for scouting too

      1. No probs, if you get stuck let me know and I’ll try and review my capture to see where they are (don’t have time at present)

  2. Any idea where Mosswood small trees are. I spent a few days combing the entire area. I found one.

  3. Hey, so I have just checked and all my ancient trees are cleaned (lit up) in all area. Yet I haven’t recieved the throphy so what am I missing? (All the large ones but to cleanse the big ones you first cleanse the small ones right?) So I don’t think I’ve missed any smaller ones. So totally confused. 🥴 thanks

    1. Ooh that’s tricky. In the pause menu, where it gives you your stats, how many ancient trees does it say you’ve cleared?

  4. Ah I didn’t think to check that well that states that I’ve discovered 9 Ancient trees but only cleasned 8. I went down the list yesterday and to the locations and they were all in bloom and lit up 🤯
