Ever wanted to go on a fun little adventure on various, vibrant alien worlds, capturing cute yet dangerous creatures all while being abandoned by the corporation who hired you to go in the first place? Well good news, you can do all of this now that Revenge Of The Savage Planet has released! This article is going to help you out with some tips if you are new to the series or just need a refresher. While Alta Interglobal and Kindred Technologies may have abandoned you, Gamer Social Club has your back!
For those of you that played Journey To The Savage Planet, Revenge will fell pretty familiar to you. The 3 main differences in Revenge Of The Savage Planet are the third-person view, the co-op (single player is an option) and the new habitat, which is your base of operations. If you aren’t familiar with the series however, Revenge Of The Savage Planet is a lot about doing research on the planets and their habitants and working to get off the planet. These are a few essential tips that will get you through the game with ease.
Mine Everything!
Perhaps the most important thing you will need to do in Revenge Of The Savage Planet is mine resources. Resources are vital to everything you will do and are required for upgrading and creating new equipment. The resources are found within large rocks scattered around the maps, and usually up against rockfaces.

You can tell what type of resource you are mining by the colour within the rock (ie gold, green). Keep an eye on your stock back at your habitat so you can see what you need more of, but in the early stages of the game you will want to mine everything. Speaking of, there is one thing that will really help you find these spots to mine….
Survey Early And Often
Surveying (press the RS in) is by far your best friend in Revenge Of The Savage Planet. You will be surveying so much that it will simply become second nature to you the longer you play.

Using the survey button will help you highlight anything in your surrounding area that might be of interest, most notably, resources. Surveying will also help you keep track of where all your missions are on the map and help guide you. Additionally it will highlight any weaknesses on creatures if you’ve already scanned them (more on scanning later).
Do The Side Missions
While some gamers love to do side missions, others prefer to just worry about the main story beats and ignore the side missions. In Revenge Of The Savage Planet the side missions are often vital to helping you with the main missions.
Most side missions will help you find new upgrades for your items that will make your life much easier. For example, an early mission where you need to capture a Hognork becomes much easier if you’ve unlocked the Power Dodge ability. It’s certainly possible to do without it, but you might pull your hair out attempting it (or you might just need to find our guide for it!).
Scan, Scan, Scan
Another very important part of Revenge Of The Savage Planet is the scanning tool. Scanning is done by pressing down on the d-pad. Once in scanning mode you can highlight things and use RB to scan them and learn about what they are. By scanning all the plant life and creatures you can unlock more upgrades.

Additionally scanning will help you better understand the creature’s weak points. Without this information you will have a difficult time trying to stagger them and defeat or capture them. You will want to capture at least one of every creature as well so you can research them back at your habitat to help unlock even more upgrades.
Unlock The Teleport Locations
With each planet being wide open, the ability to teleport is quite important to help minimize your time running around the same areas. While each planet only has a couple teleport locations you will most definitely want to find and unlock them.

Not only will unlocking them potentially save you time running missions, but they will also help you when you die. Revenge Of The Savage Planet has a roguelike element to it in the sense that if you die, you lose anything you earned since the last time you were at your habitat. In order to get it back you need to return to where you died and collect it.
Return To Your Habitat Often
To combat the potential loss of resources you should remember to return to your habitat often. You will be returning here a fair bit anyway as missions bring you back in order to buy new things, but it’s a good practice to return often.

Another big reason you should return to your habitat often is because there is quite a bit to do. Whether it’s turning in your minerals to buy upgrades, doing research on newly captured creatures, or just enjoying your habitat by furnishing it. There’s plenty of worthwhile things to do at the habitat.
