CD Projekt RED’s (CDPR) long-term commitment to their games is unrivalled in the industry. Dedicating time, money and resource to games for years after they release, both with very generous free, as well as paid content. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt recently received a surprise free remaster, and will see a brand-new expansion next year, Songs of the Past.

The Polish studio have now confirmed that the next free update for Cyberpunk 2077, the 2.5 update will arrive Thursday October 22, 2026. There will be a livestream on Wednesday October 21 at 8am ET / 11am PT / 4pm UK to showcase the update, which  coincides with the release of Season 2 of Netflix anime adaptation, Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Confirming the update via X (Twitter), CDPR said little more than “// NEW UPDATE INCOMING… [v.2.5][22.10.26]”:

So, what can we expect in the update. In a snippet from the YouTube description, CDPR said during the stream they will discuss the following: “We’re talking cyberware customization, a new dual-wielding playstyle, and more!” You’ll be able to watch the live stream on Twitch, or via the official YouTube channel below:

It’s hard to forget that Cyberpunk 2077 had one of the worst launches in gaming history. Launching in the middle of the COVID pandemic in late-2020, the game arrived as a horror show, particularly on last-gen consoles – where support has now been dropped. However, with significant support and updates from CDPR, it certainly is one of the great gaming turnaround stories that continues to perform well commercially.
