One of this years finest new games, 007 First Light has been a huge success for Hitman developer, IO Interactive. Releasing to excellent critical success – including a 9.5 from Gamer Social Club – and commercial success, including 1.5 million sales in the opening 24 hours.

007 First Light has now reached 4 million, with sales of the Switch 2 release expected to bolster that number even further. However, IO have confirmed that Switch 2 owners will now have to wait a little longer to play the game, with the launch pushed back to March 2027, 10 months after its release on XBOX Series, PlayStation 5 and PC. An exact date isn’t yet given.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the studio said that they are taking extra time to polish the game for the Switch 2 release:

007 First Light is a technically advanced game with high-quality visuals and demanding on-screen assets, so it’s possibly proving a technical challenge to have the game perform at expected standards on Nintendo’s console.

However, with a stacked fall season including the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Stellar Blade and many other big Switch 2 titles, a delay to what – for now – is a quieter month in the Switch 2 launch calendar may be a good thing for the game.

There is further content planned for 007 First Light including new Tactical Simulation content, new enemies and new playable missions featuring Bawma, voiced by Lenny Kravtiz. You can expect to see this content in the Switch 2 version also:
