Continuing with the 25th anniversary celebrations for Final Fantasy X, Square Enix has announced that the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 physically and digitally later this year, and pre-orders are open today!

Announced via the Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary official website, this brings a native version of the game to the Switch 2, and will feature a “Game Boost” feature, including changes in game speed, character enhancement, and encounter rates.
“This work combines ‘FINAL FANTASY X’ released in 2001 and its sequel ‘FINAL FANTASY X-2’ in a single high-definition HD remaster. The poignant story of the boy Tidus and summoner Yuna as they face the great threat ‘Shin’ comes alive vividly on Nintendo Switch 2.”
The Nintendo Switch™ 2 version will be released as a digital version on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, and as a physical version on Thursday, August 27th, 2026. To commemorate the game’s 25th anniversary, the physical version released on August 27th will come with a special sleeve case featuring the “FFX 25th Anniversary Logo” artwork (shown in the image above). *
- The anniversary sleeve is included for a limited time. Depending on the production period, items may not be included, so sales will end once supplies run out.
You can pre-order the digital version of the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster for Switch 2 on the Nintendo eShop, and the physical copy (which is sold as a “key card”) at the Square Enix online store.
Fans who pre-order the physical edition will also receive an e-store bonus of a digital wallpaper, while those who choose to place their order through the Japanese version of Amazon will receive an exclusive set of stickers.
The 25th anniversary celebrations for Final Fantasy X are picking up steam, with a recent merch reveal and pop-up store announcement dropping only a week ago. With the official anniversary date of July 3rd fast approaching, we are likely to get a few more announcements in the weeks to come, and no doubt for the rest of the year.
