Just 2 weeks after Xbox announced that they are reducing the price of Xbox Game Pass, they have revealed the first wave of games coming to the service in May and it might be the best month we’ve had this year.
Announced via the Xbox Wire today, wave one features 5 day 1 titles including one of the most anticipated of the year in Forza Horizon 6.

What a list! Of course everyone will be focused on Forza Horizon 6 and for good reason. The arcade racing franchise has become one of the biggest in all of gaming and arguably Xbox’s flagship franchise. The 6th iteration of the series will take players to Japan, a long asked for location for the game.

Players who simply can’t wait and have Xbox Game Pass can also buy the premium upgrade for Forza Horizon 6 to get the game 5 days early. That has proved very popular in the past and I’m sure it will again as people can’t wait to drive around Japan.
If racing isn’t your thing then don’t fret, Xbox Game Pass is about to gain a ton of day 1 indie games. The first is Mixtape which is out May 7th. Mixtape has been another eagerly anticipated title as players join a group of friends looking back on their adventures with 1 last night together.
A few days later on May 11th Outbound will join the service. Players will travel the world and build their cozy home on wheels as they gather resources, grow crops and much more while they live off the grid.
May 12th is my personal most anticipated of the group as Call of the Elder Gods will release. A sequel to the excellent Call of the Sea, this adventure game full of puzzles and mystery should delight. A professor and his student embark on an adventure to find an ancient artifact and in the process uncover so much more.

Last but not least for the day 1 games is Subnautica 2. Launching in game preview, the underwater survival game is looking to build upon the success of the first title. Games launching in Game Preview and early access are always hit or miss, but hopefully Unknown Worlds has got the formula down.
Also while not mentioned in the press release, Motorslice has also joined the service day 1 today! You can read our thoughts on the game here.
And of course if you don’t have Game Pass Ultimate there is a decent amount coming to the Premium service, so there really is something for everyone here. Check back in a couple weeks to see what Xbox has in store for wave 2.
