Motorslice – All Boss Fights Guide

There are quite a few trophies/achievements to unlock while running around as P and Orbie in Motorslice, the atmospheric 3rd-person action game about traversing an inconceivably large megastructure and fighting giant construction vehicles. So, here is our All Boss Fights guide for Motorslice!

Check out our Motorslice Review for our full thoughts on the game.

All Boss Fights Guide

There are a total of eight bosses in Motorslice, with one at the end of each chapter, starting with Chapter 1, City. Each one is more of a puzzle than an outright fight, similar to the colossi in Shadow of the Colossus, where you climb over these massive enemies, hitting their weak points.

MOTORSLICE’s bosses have a health bar broken up into chunks at the top of the screen, each section representing a weak point you need to destroy. The bosses’ weak points are the orange surfaces you use P’s chainsaw to cut through/traverse. Once all segments have been filled, the boss is defeated.

Boss fight checkpoints are turned on by default, saving some of your progress as you go. This can be turned off for more of a challenge.

1. Dump Truck

Chapter 1’s boss is the Dump Truck, a large, 4-wheel truck with a bed full of sand.

Start by running underneath it between its wheels, and avoid the front as it is covered by a rolling grinder that will crush you. Several orange beams are protruding from its undercarriage. Grab onto the lowest one, jump between them, and climb up the last one inside the Dump Truck.

Slide/crawl through the gap to the right, and when you climb up the wall behind you, the camera will swing round to show an orange pole you can wall jump to. Swing to another, longer pole, and shimmy along it to be opposite the Dump Truck’s first weak spot. Jump to it and press the attack button when close to the orange metal to stick P’s chainsaw into it and ride it up. Be sure to angle it so you drop onto the platform at the top.

Next, use the chainsaw to ride across the remainder of this weak point to reach a new area and fill out the first segment of the boss’s health bar. From here, slide down the ramp and run across the front of the Dump Truck, just above the rolling grinder, to find the second weak spot tucked in a groove.

Slice up this weak spot to reach a corner ledge. For the next segment, you need to use your chainsaw along the first bit, stop it before you reach the end, let yourself drop, then press the attack button again to have P stab her chainsaw into the lower weak point. Follow this behind the Dump Truck’s wheel to reach the back of it.

Use your chainsaw to get up on top of the Dump Truck, and it will start to tip its bed to make you fall off. Don’t worry, it’s very slow. Run up towards the front of it, and jump down onto its “head”, where its last weak point is.

Once you have landed on top of this bit, the bed will lower back down again, and you can then ride your chainsaw around the last weak point, defeating the boss and turning it into a pile of sand.

2. Helicopter

The Helicopter is the boss of Chapter 2, the smallest of these vehicular villains, whose whole body is made up of its two weak points.

The first way to reach the Helicopter is to bring it to you by grounding it. To do this, you need to parry and hit one of the circular saws it launches at you back at the boss. This stuns the Helicopter, forcing it to the ground and making it easy to jump onto the side and ride your chainsaw across it.

The second way to reach the Helicopter is to use one of the several different parkour areas within the arena, and time a jump onto the side of the boss as it flies by. This is easier to do after you’ve filled the first segment of the boss’s health bar, as it will stop firing saw blades at you.

The defeated Helicopter will crash on top of a nearby building with you still attached before turning into sand.

3. Mech

Chapter 3’s boss is the largest yet, a towering bipedal Mech with a wide, flat head and an extendable drill arm. Alongside it, you want to pay attention to the arena, as there are giant holes you can fall through.

Run across the arena, and time it so you can mantle onto one of the Mech’s feet. Use your chainsaw to then ride up its leg to the top, filling out the first segment of the boss’s health bar.

Slide/run across the Mech’s leg joint and climb up the large steps on the front of the upper part of its leg. Jump across to the middle section and ride your chainsaw a full circuit around the circular weak point.

To the rear of the Mech is an orange girder you can grab onto and climb up. Jump to the horizontal bar and swing onto the wall to chain several wall runs together and to reach the next level and go up another flight of big stairs.

Wall run down the path ahead and use your chainsaw on the orange metal weak spot to ride around to the other side, filling the third segment of the boss’s health bar.

Wall run across the hatches when they are closed, and then jump to the orange pole to swing onto the Mech’s wide, flat head.

Slide down either hole in the boss’s head and jump towards the last weak point, several rows of orange metal wrapped around between the two gaps.

With all the weak points hit, the Mech is defeated, swiftly turning to sand as it collapses, creating a path forward for P.

4. Crane Train

While Chapter 4’s boss is not nearly as impressive as the previous one, it’s probably the trickiest so far. It looks like a flatbed vehicle with several large wheels lining each side, and three cranes on top. It drives around a long, doughnut-shaped highway with tunnels at each end, as well as concrete paths linking the two roads.

To start, get on the opposite side of the highway to the Crane Train and dodge the first two cranes as they drag their hooks across the road, blowing up the occasional mine. Use your chainsaw to ride up and along the rear crane arm, filling in the first segment of the boss’s health bar.

Get onto the flatbed of the Crane Train and use your chainsaw on the three crane bases, filling out a further three segments of the health bar.

The tricky part for this boss is hitting its last two weak points, which are on the front and back of the vehicle. I found that standing on the Crane Train slowed it down, making it easier to drop off the front or back and quickly use the chainsaw to slice through each one

With all of the health bar segments filled, the Crane Train is defeated, turning into sand and creating your path forward.

5. Double Excavator

Chapter 5’s boss is the Double Excavator, which, while pretty self-explanatory and simple in design, is very cool! It’s a similar boss fight to the first one against the Dump Truck, but the Double Excavator is quicker, likes to turn on a dime, and shoots circular saws at you from its sides.

What really sets this boss fight apart is that it is inactive when you enter the arena, and only wakes up when P gets close to it, triggering the cut scene.

The Double Excavator attacks by independently slamming its buckets into the ground to crush you. Draw out a few of its attacks, and it will eventually stop, resting in a position that allows you to ride your chainsaw up the first weak spot on one of its arms.

Run down the rest of the arm and jump onto the top of the boss. Go to the right-hand side of the box at the back and use your chainsaw on the second weak point, riding it around to the opposite side, and jumping over the wire fence.

What happens next is quite a long section. On the ramp, use the piece of orange metal on the side to start slicing across the Double Excavator, above the saw blades. Drop down before the edge and turn to ride the chainsaw towards the back of the boss, destroying the weak point in the process. You then need to wall run across the rear of the boss and start sawing through the other side.

On the boss’s other side, there is an opening near the bottom you can enter from the left side, so ride your chainsaw over or under the sawblades, and then drop down to chainsaw into the recess. Crawl through the small hole inside, and be careful of the sawblades in the room you enter.

Work your way around to the other side of this cramped room to find a square hole in the ground you can drop through. You are now on the Double Escavator’s tracks, next to the fifth weak spot at its centre. Ride your chainsaw around it for a full circuit to fill up another segment of the boss’s health bar.

The last two weak spots are on the tracks of the Double Excavator, and honestly, I found these two the trickiest due to the boss’s sudden movement and quick rotations.

With those last two segments of the boss’s health bar filled, the Double Excavator is defeated, turning to sand like the rest, with one of its arms resting on the roof, your path forward.

6. Harvester

Chapter 6’s boss is the Harvester, a long tractor-like vehicle with two tilling blades hanging beneath the middle section. It attacks by trying to run you over or cut you up with its blades, but it’s pretty easy to avoid these.

This is probably the weirdest fight so far, as both approaches to reaching the Harvester’s weak spots are quite unorthodox, and there are giant fans set into the arena floor that lift you into the air.

For the boss’s first weak spot, you want to parry one of its long blades using the chainsaw. When successful, the Harvester will fall onto its side, exposing its undercarriage. Run up one of its blades and slice through it with your chainsaw to fill the first segment of the boss’s health bar.

Let the Harvester right itself and lure it over to where the large fans are set into the arena floor. You need to use one of the updrafts to lift you high enough to get on top of the boss and use the chainsaw on the weak spots down the sides of it.

Once you have dealt with both weak points on the sides of the Harvester, get back on top of it and run down the thin middle section to the front, where the last weak spot is waiting. Carefully slide off the sloped end of the vehicle and use the chainsaw to ride around the back to the other side and fill the final segment of the boss’s health bar.

The Harvester will turn to sand like the rest of them once defeated, and you are free to progress.

7. Bucket-Wheel Excavator

Chapter 8’s boss is the Bucket-Wheel Excavator, and the largest boss in the game. It’s also one of the longer and harder boss fights in MOTORSLICE, so get ready for a lot of parkouring!

Wall-run and jump into the boss’s arena and begin running towards its base. It’ll begin the fight by swinging its huge arm at you, so parry it to knock it aside and earn some major cool points (as well as the Parry That! trophy/achievement if you haven’t already).

Once you have made it to the boss’s tracks, climb up them and look to the middle of the massive machine to spot a horizontal orange pole you can swing on. Jump from the pole to the orange wall in front of you, and as you vault over it, press the jump button again to leap up to the grey platform ahead of you.

Use the rotating platform to cross over to the opening, and the camera will swing around to show the first weak spot on the exterior of the Bucket-Wheel Excavator. Ride your chainsaw to the right, then up, and then back to the left over the gap to the rear of the boss, where you’ll have to wall-run from the first weak spot to the second.

On the other side of the boss, keep slicing your way through the orange metal weak spot, dropping down and re-engaging the chainsaw when needed. At the end of the second weak spot, you need to wall run to a vertical girder you can climb up, then jump to the left and start chainsawing the next weak point.

When the weak spot splits into two paths, ride your chainsaw through the bottom path, and you’ll reach a set of stairs. Run up the wall and chainsaw through the orange metal above you, angling up to jump onto the level above.

Slice up the little weak spot you find here, and then climb up the right side of it. Run/jump across the treads, and drop down the other side to find a wall you can hack. Wall-run on this wall to the right and activate it so it lifts you to the weak spot, then ride your chainsaw around and jump off at the end of it to grab a vertical girder. Rotate around the girder and then leap to the next section of orange metal, and ride your chainsaw to the right, jumping through the gap at the end to finish this stage of the boss.

That’s right, your first boss fight checkpoint is here! As I said, it’s a big boss.

To your left is a large wheel you need to run/climb up and then jump onto the wall above, wall-running up and then jumping backwards onto the horizontal pole above the wheel. Turn on the pole and jump to the wall again, wall-running and jumping to a second pole. Turn around again and jump on top of this section, and go to the weak spot at the back on the right.

Ride your chainsaw along this weak spot to reach a small ledge. Slice up the same weak spot and then jump across a gap to another ledge below you.

Vault up to the upper part of this ledge and wall-run across to the next weak spot, riding it around, then changing your direction to go up and to the left. Once you’ve reached the larger section of the weak point, ride your chainsaw to the top of it to get on top. You just need to slide under the two grinders to avoid them.

Run along one of the struts leading out from the platform, and ride the elevator up to the top by hacking it. Use your chainsaw to break the weak spot and make your way on top of it to proceed to the next part.

Jump to the long horizontal pole, line yourself up with the shorter pole below you, and drop down to it. Swing/jump along the row of poles and be ready to use your chainsaw on the weak spot at the other end, making sure to get on top of it once the second last segment of the boss’s health bar is filled.

Slide down one of the ramps onto the arm of the Bucket-Wheel Excavator, and walk onto the orange bar at the end, just in front of the boss’s saw. Time your jump to land in one of the scoops, and ride it to the top.

At the apex of the saw is a set of girders you can slide down to reach a narrow ledge. Carefully walk along this to reach the final weak spot.

The Bucket-Wheel Excavator will collapse, turning to sand, and creating your path forward.

8. Flying Train

Yup, that’s right. The last boss of MOTORSLICE is the Flying Train!

Like the Bucket-Wheel Excavator in the previous chapter, the Flying Train boss is present throughout Chapter 8, but you don’t start the fight with it until you are running about in the desert it flies over. Note the lingering shot on the back of the last train carriage during the opening cut scene; that’s where we need to get to.

Run across the dunes towards the Flying Train until you are close enough to get a hack symbol to appear on it. Hacking the boss causes it to attack you, coming down to ground level to try and run you over before ascending again.

It took me a while to figure out what to do when this happened, and while the answer feels pretty counterintuitive, it’s also very straightforward. When the Flying Train comes down to run you over, simply jump towards the front of it and climb up. P will be pressed against the front of the boss as it lifts itself back into the air, after which you will regain control.

Climb up the rest of the Flying Train onto the roof, and begin the journey to the very back of the boss, jumping between carriages and avoiding saw traps. Once you have arrived at the back, drop down and turn the valve to open the gate to your right.

We’ve been patient to get here, but now it’s time to fight back! Head inside, wall-run past the mine, and jump to the next carriage to saw through the first weak point, until you need to jump to a vertical orange girder. These girders rotate, so be careful to jump when facing the right way. Wall-run and jump to the orange pipe, and walk along it around the corner.

Ride your chainsaw along the weak spot on the wall, and then jump to the pole sticking out in front of you. Swing along them and then jump back to the wall to cut through the boss’s third weak spot. Follow it around the corner, and either wall run to the crack in the wall and climb, or angle your chainsaw run to get on top of it to jump to one of the holes.

Follow the crack on the wall onto the outside of the carriage and wall run to the next crack to get back inside.

Jump from the crack in the wall and use the fans to hover over to the fourth weak spot on the inside wall of the next carriage. Look out for a hack symbol appearing over the next carriage, which will shift the grinders out of the way, clearing your path.

Run through this carriage before the grinders return to the floor, and jump to the next carriage with a treadmill floor, so keep running! At the other end, jump to the Flying Train’s final weak spot, making sure to avoid the circular saws in the middle. Ride your chainsaw until the last segment of the boss’s health bar is full.

With that, the eighth and final boss is defeated, crashing down as it turns to sand like the rest. Congratulations!
