Saint Slayer: Spear of Sacrilege is an NES-style 2D action game that focuses heavily on the difficulty often found in retro games, as well as its robust replay value. They do this using their Password system, allowing you to replay the game with interesting modifiers. One of the ways to get Passwords is by finding collectibles within the 21 stages of the game, called Treasures. There are 14 in all, and acquiring them all will also reward you with the trophy “They Belong In A Museum.” Here is our guide for all the Treasure Locations & their passwords for Saint Slayer: Spear of Scrilege.
It’s important to note that the passwords you receive and use will start you at Stage 1 with whatever modifier the password provides. Also, completing the game using certain passwords will give you more trophies.
All 14 Treasure Locations and Passwords
Stage 1: The Sentence of the False Messiah
Password: JOHN – Fisherman Mode
In order to reach this platform, you’ll need to throw (UP + Square) your weapon to create a footing. Jump up the big crate, and you’ll be able to reach the treasure.
The Fisherman mode makes it so that you are only able to consume fish (the purple-looking consumables), while chicken will make you puke.
Stage 2: Lapis Lazuli Rosary
Password: FATMAN – Hungry Mode
The very first house in the 2nd Stage holds the treasure. However, this door will lock if you speak to the villager before attempting to go inside. Therefore, make sure you ignore him, run inside, and behind the window of the house is the treasure.
The Hungry Mode makes chicken and fish drop more often. Completing the game using this mode will reward you with the “The Hunger” silver trophy.
Stage 4: The Relics of Aachen
Password: SPRINGY – POGO Mode
In the 4th stage, you’ll be riding this horse carriage, and falling off will result in a life lost. However, standing on this footing between the carriage and the horse will make the treasure spawn.
POGO Mode will make it so that you will constantly be performing the thrust down attack in a pogo fashion, which normally only happens if you use it against an enemy, spike, or destructible item.
Stage 5: Globus Cruciger
Password: SLIPPERY – Slide Mode
In the 5th stage, you’ll see this platform. You need to make sure you get under it before you’ve gone too far to the right of this screen, or you’ll miss your chance at the treasure.
Once you’ve gone down and you see it’s still a trapped human, then you’re good. Break the wall and rescue him. Unfortunately, he’ll still turn into a monster, but once you do kill that monster, the treasure will drop.
Slide Mode allows you to be in constant sliding motion, much like the Pogo Mode. Using this password to complete the game will give you the “Get Down” silver trophy.
Stage 7: Chalice of Valencia
Password: THROWER – Thrower Mode
This one isn’t hidden at all, so this should be easy.
The Thrower mode makes it so that you have the maximum rosary amount, allowing you to throw your weapon to your heart’s content!
Stage 8: Blade of Dismas
Password: VEGAN – Vegan Mode
In the first set of lifts, instead of jumping through, take it all the way up. Once you are in a new screen, you’ll need to jump across and slide under this opening.
There, you’ll see the treasure.
The VEGAN password will enter Vegan mode. This means NO EATING! Good luck!
Stage 10: The Secret of the Magi
Password: GREENMAN – Green Mode
This treasure isn’t difficult to find; however, you can easily accidentally complete the stage if you aren’t careful. Instead of always heading towards the left side of each screen, you’ll want to go up. If you keep taking the stairs up, you’ll eventually make it to this screen shown above.
Destroy the wall and jump through. You’ll need to kill that eyeball by throwing your spear.
The Green mode turn your green, which is similar to how you would look if you were player number 2 in a co-op session. However, this mode allows you to jump slightly higher and further. Completing the game using this mode will reward you with the “Ruudigreen” silver trophy.
Stage 11: Key of Faith
Password: GREED – Greed Mode
It’s very easy to “get lost” in this stage and miss several things if you don’t take the correct door. To get to the treasure, follow this route:
First door, first door, second door.
Greed Mode turns your HP into coins, and getting hurt drops it, turning you into Sonic. You’ll be accompanied by a crow that picks it up for you. Completing the game while in this mode will reward you with the “Ravenous Greed” silver trophy.
Stage 13: Paul the Apostle’s Death Mask
Password: DIRK – Dirk Mode
You’ll come across this platform. Just hit the wooden crate underneath, then once cleared, slide under, and you’ll receive your treasure.
Dirk Mode makes it so that you’ll only have a dirk during your entire playthrough.
Stage 14: The Essence of Januarius
Password: TWOFACE – Two Way Mode
In this stage, once you get to this screen, just jump up on top of the pipes, being careful of the fire. Hit the candle, and the treasure will drop out of it
Two-Way Mode will make it so that you’ll always have the Two-Way spear ability.
Stage 16: Titulus Crucis
Password: CHICKEN – Chicken Mode
In this gondola stage, you’ll need to hit the wheel in the middle to proceed to the right side. After passing by about six towers, stop hitting the wheel and stand on top of it.
A crow will quickly fly by, holding the treasure, so you’ll have to be quick. You might need to fall off or die from enemies if you miss it, because you won’t get another chance.
Chicken mode will give you a playthrough that drops lots of food. Also, the enemy density will be the same as Hard difficulty.
Stage 17: Tome of the Saints
Password: SPLITTER – Splitter Mode
Near the end of this Library stage, you’ll come across several paintings. In order to get the treasure, you’ll need to interact with this Beatrix painting twice.
Splitter Mode makes it so your spear ability will always be Splitter.
Stage 19: Clement’s Crozier
Password: BOOMER – Boomer Mode
Midway through this stage, you’ll come across fragile footing. You won’t have time to grab the treasure if you slide down and walk normally. Make sure to jump right after a slide in order to get the treasure and continue safely.
Boomer Mode will give your spear the exploding mode.
Stage 20: The True King’s Coronet
Password: RUUDIGER – Play as Ruudiger
During your quick trip up the tower, you’ll come across a fork. While your goal is to go up, taking the lower path will lead to the treasure. If you’re far enough ahead, you should have time to head back without dying.
This treasure unlocks the ability to play as Ruudiger. It is basically Classic mode difficulty levels, but with max spear level. Completing the game while in this mode will also reward you with the “Shadow Shelf” silver trophy.
After acquiring the final treasure, you’ll receive the golden trophy: They Belong In A Museum.
