Gamer Social Club recently had the pleasure of catching up with developer Maarti Games about their demo for their new game Goeland: Seagull Adventure.

Take to the skies in Goeland: Seagull Adventure, as you play as a mischievous seagull in a small seaside town where chaos is always just one flap away! Fly through the busy beach, bustling streets, and around the neighborhood as you wreak havoc on the locals. But how you play is up to you! Become a beloved hero by helping residents, delivering items, and solving problems. Or you can embrace your inner menace by snatching food, knocking over garbage cans, and turning everyday into chaos. Investigate the island’s pollution problem, and piece together the town’s hidden stories from a bird’s-eye view. Whether you choose to be a feathered friend or foe, every flight brings plenty of opportunities to ruffle some feathers.

Behind the Game

When asked about where his inspiration for the game came from, solo developer Bryan Maarti said, “The initial inspiration came from a video where we see a gull walking into a shop and coming out with a bag of chips. At that time, I was thinking about making a stealth game but wanted a theme more original than spies and firearms. So I thought: “a game where you play as a seagull that has to sneak into a shop and steal stuff, that could be fun!” Then… let’s just say the scope evolved a bit.

Gameplay

In the demo of Goelands: Seagull Adventure, players are welcomed into an open-ended sandbox filled with activities to explore and plenty of things to do. Players can galavant around the island on foot or by flying (flying is definitely faster). Interact with objects and see what can be manipulated. Actions trigger chain reactions which can cause absolute chaos.

The main storyline is naturally integrated into the open world, and tasks to complete will reveal themselves the more you interact. Do be careful with your chaos, though; you can be caught by humans! If you would rather play with less chaos, players can switch on “peaceful mode” to explore the island with no chases.

Goelands: Seagull Adventure says a controller is used for the best experience, and although a mouse-and-keyboard gamer I would have to agree. Joysticks make flying a lot smoother.

Toggle on peaceful mode for a less chaotic experience.

Goelands: Seagull Adventure has a demo to check out currently on Steam. A full game release is planned for Q4 of 2026.
