God of War: Laufey pre-orders went live a couple of weeks ago, and at the time I mentioned how it was a bit odd that we didn’t get a collector’s edition. Well that has changed as today PlayStation has announced that the collector’s edition is available for pre-order starting today.
The collector box looks pretty good if you are a collector. The biggest piece is the light up Faye statue of course, but it does have some other interesting pieces. As a fan of video game art, the mini Artbook will be interesting to see how Sony Santa Monica brought this game to life. There’s also a 51 card Oracle deck.
Now the one thing you didn’t see mentioned is what is causing the most uproar, the game itself. The God of War: Laufey Collector Box does not come with the game. That is reflected in its $149.99USD price tag, but it is causing a lot of drama online nonetheless.
Personally speaking, I prefer no game in the collector’s edition over say a digital code which we have seen in the past. No game gives both digital only players and those who want a physical copy the option to buy their preferred method while still getting the collector’s edition. Nothing worse than being shoehorned into the game version you don’t want.
Pre-orders are open as of now and are only available on the PlayStation’s own store. Purchases are limited to 1 copy.
