While Konami’s Silent Hill franchise is set to receive the fourth installment in its comeback era later this week, its other horror-tinged franchise is gearing up for its big return as Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set to arrive next month. With many eagerly anticipating Dead Cells creator Evil Empire and Motion Twin’s take on the series, Konami has announced that a demo will arrive next week, allowing fans to transfer their save to the full game.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is the first original title in the 40-year old franchise since 2014’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2 and the first mainline entry since 2008’s Order of Ecclesia. The game is a narrative sequel to Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse and the PS2 entry Curse of Darkness, and follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor and Sypha Belnades, as she saves Paris from Dracula’s dark forces. Following the success of the Netflix adaptation from Powerhouse Animation, this entry features returning members of the animated show’s voice cast.
With the season of darkness approaching, Konami revealed during Tokyo Game Show that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will receive a free demo across all platforms on October 1. Players will be able to transfer their progress to the full game when it releases on October 15. The demo will contain the game’s opening chapter, which is the same sequence that was playable during Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is confirmed to run at 60 frames per second across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions; however, the Nintendo Switch version is confirmed to run at 30 frames per second. Since there will be no native Nintendo Switch 2 version at launch, this should be a good opportunity for fans to see how the game will perform on the platform given the limitations.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will release for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S on October 15.
