Over the last decade it’s been hard to escape the metroidvania genre. With high profile titles like Hollow Knight and its sequel, Silksong, the exceptional Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and so many other greats, it would be easy to forget about those that actually started the genre, Metroid and Castlevania games.
Finally, after a long wait a traditional Castlevania game is in the works with Belmont’s Curse. Revealed earlier this year, with PlayStation and XBOX launch dates confirmed in the summer, the Switch version release date was left TBC.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Konami have confirmed that the game will arrive on platforms the very same day. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will now launch on XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC on October 15, 2026. Physical releases are planned for all three console platforms with pre-orders open with retailers.

Belmont’s Curse is set in 1499 Paris, which is under invasion from Dracula’s spawn. The game will feature a boss battle in form of a corrupted Joan of Arc.
The franchise is currently on a high, buoyed by excellent titles in the genre it created as well as a well-received Netflix animated series. Finally, after a long wait fans of Castlevania will have a new game in their libraries.
