Earlier this year, a modern remaster of Vanillaware’s cult action RPG Muramasa: The Demon Blade was announced by publisher Marvelous for release early next year. Today, the studio has revealed the release date for Muramasa: Revenant Blades alongside a lengthy new trailer.
Muramasa: The Demon Blade was originally released for Nintendo Wii in 2009. The game combines 2D action platforming with RPG mechanics and features gorgeous hand-drawn 2D artwork that has become synonymous with developer Vanillaware. The game received an expanded remaster in 2013 with Muramasa: Rebirth for PlayStation Vita, which upgraded the visuals to HD and added new side-story content.
Muramasa: Revenant Blades combines all of the content from the Wii and Vita versions while adding new features, an entirely new English dub, and improved visuals up to 4K resolution. Publisher Marvelous has revealed today that Revenant Blades will release on February 4, 2027, with pre-orders for the Limited Edition live now for PS5, Switch, and Switch 2 versions.
