Just as the dust is settling on another awesome week of games announcements at gamescom in Cologne, Germany, it’s now Sony’s turn to show us what they’re up to. Yes, a new State of Play has been confirmed and it’s taking place this Thursday 3 September 2026.
Announced today via the PlayStation Blog, PlayStation have confirmed that the upcoming State of Play will feature two back-to-back broadcasts; the usual State of Play, followed by a State of Play Japan.
The first broadcast, the State of Play will air at 6:00am PT / 9:00am ET / 3:00pm CEST / 10:00pm JST on YouTube and Twitch and will feature updates and announcements from PlayStation first-party studios as well as third-part publishers . The State of Play will end with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which we recently saw at Opening Night Live, last week.
The second broadcast, State of Play Japan will look at upcoming games from studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay and announcements. It will be hosted by Yuki Kaji.
The State of Play will air in English, with Japanese subtitles available, and the State of Play Japan will air in Japanese, with English subtitles being available.
