It’s not very often that a new game launching can take over a museum, especially in New York City. However, that is exactly what the most recent Lego game did on launch day. There was no doubt that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was the highlight for the day. Upon arriving two big screens were at the entry of the museum showing off imagery and looping the trailer for many to see. The caped crusader would be having his day. The event was advertised as:

PALEYGX Gaming Studio Take Over
At the top of the museum is PALEYGX Gaming Studio where all stations were reserved to allow visitors to get hands on with LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The gaming studio has over 20 gaming stations as well as a VR room for those interested.
Our NYC team was able to get there and play a sold hour of the game on PlayStation 5. Visitors could hop on and off consoles to either start the game from the beginning or pick up someone’s previous save file and try out the game. While, the game begins as many Batman stories do, with the death of the Wayne’s, the mood in the room was far from somber. Those playing were thoroughly enjoying themselves no matter where in the story they began playing. It was lovely to see parents and their kids enjoy the game together. This truly is a testament to the LEGO series as a whole.
However video games were not the only medium on the menu. For those waiting on a station or who wanted to be a bit more tactile, the fourth floor offered actual LEGO bricks for some creativity. Visitors were able to build their own creations or indulge in other arts and crafts such as coloring pages. A great break for those already sold on purchasing the game themselves.

On the Big Screen
There was one other place to find LEGO Batman and this time on the big screen where he belongs. For those who were brave enough to show off their skills, they could go into the archive room and play for an audience. It was great to see audience members line up to play and once again see all ages enjoy the game. The staff was very helpful in guiding the younger players experiencing LEGO Batman for the first time. While the theater is usually used for various screenings, allowing the game play to appear on screen provided all members an opportunity to engage.

Floating around the museum, if you were lucky, you could also take a photo with the World’s Greatest Detective himself. It was great to see kids feel they were meeting a celebrity and see the draw that Batman has with all ages. Overall, the event was a fun celebration of LEGO, Batman, and this most recent entry into the series.
