Last year Harmonix and its new parent company Epic Games announced the end of Rock Band 4, bringing an end to the legacy of the plastic peripheral rhythm game genre that dominated the early 2000s. This hasn’t stopped the newly reformed RedOctane Games (its namesake the original publisher of the Guitar Hero series) from announcing Stage Tour earlier this year. Today, the studio announced that the game will take the stage during Gamescom Opening Night Live next week.

Stage Tour is the debut games from RedOctane Games, a new studio founded by a team of original Guitar Hero and DJ Hero veterans under holdings company Embracer Group. The team revealed the game earlier this year and have teased several tracks featured in the set list including Weezer’s “Island in the Sun”, Slipknot’s “Psychosocial”, Mastadon’s “The Motherload”, “Just” by Radiohead, and more.

With the game still on track for release this “Holiday”, RedOctane confirmed today that Stage Tour’s next showing will be during Gamescom Opening Night Live, hosted by The Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley. Expect new track reveals and a look at gameplay, which includes vocal, guitar, bass guitar, and drum options. The show takes place on August 25th at 11am PT/2pm ET/8pm CEST.

Stage Tour is also set to receive its own set of instrument controller peripherals with licensing from Gibson, Epiphone, and Kramer. It’s not yet known when these peripherals will release or how much they will cost, and the game itself is currently only planned as a digital release that will be compatible with older Guitar Hero and Rock Band instruments.

Stage Tour will release in “Holiday 2026” for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
