Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has continued to look stunning since its debut at the XBOX Games Showcase last summer. With launch just a month from today, the marketing for the standalone prequel adventure has really kicked into gear.
Just last week, the French studio behind the game, Asobo Studio shared their jaw dropping locations trailer which features places including Venice where we will visit in the new title. Different from the stealth gameplay seen in both Plague Tale: Innocence and Requiem, Resonance adopts a more action-oriented style. There will also be many areas to traverse and puzzles to solve in this Mediterranean adventure that will also feature the beautiful Greek island of Crete.
Resonance features a new lead character, Sophia, who will be familiar to those who have played prior titles in the truly excellent series. To survive the journey, Sophia will need to stay in the light and use it to her advantage. In a new trailer which you can see below (thanks PC Gamer), our heroin will seek salvation from harm in bright spaces.
The light will also reveal new paths and some of the solutions to the game’s puzzles which are very Uncharted or Tomb Raider-like, but with Plague Tale DNA. Sophia’s mysterious sphere will harness the power of light to show the way forward in some brainteasing cave mysteries.
I was surprised to see the change of gameplay direction for Resonance. But from everything we have seen so far, it looks like Asobo have a very promising new game for us just around the corner.
Resonance: A Plague Tale titles releases on August 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S and PC.
