Denshattack Beginner’s Guide

Denshattack guide

Denshattack, the hotly anticipated indie game from developers Undercoders has released. Available on Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. The fast-paced game is a joy to play, though it has a bit of a learning curve in order to master. With our beginners guide we will help you go from a novice to chasing down those gold medals.

What you need to know about Denshattack is that the game is split up into many different levels. Each level is its own track and comes with its own set of goals. Each track has a score you want to hit by doing tricks, a time component which is self-explanatory and 7 Dares.

The 7 Dares will be unique to each level. 5 of them will be for doing random things in the level, hitting all the speed boosts in a level for example. An additional 2 Dares will be for collecting all of the spray cans and each levels film roll. The Dares are probably the easiest thing to get the gold component of the level done out of the 3.

Combo, Combo, Combo

The single biggest thing you are going to need to focus on in Denshattack is stringing together combos to maximize your score. Your first thought might be to think that means doing as many tricks as you can in a single jump. While that definitely helps, it’s a bit more complicated than that.

Build up that combo meter

The best way to get bigger combos is to do tricks in the air but when you land land in a manual. In order to do a manual all you need to do is tap forward or backwards (depending on which type of manual you wish to do) when you land. Doing so will continue the combo you have started while doing tricks. Hit another jump, do another trick or 2 and land in a manual again and the combo will grow.

This also works when doing a grind. To do a grind, just land on a track that is too thin for your train. You will automatically be put into a grind and you will need to keep your balance to keep it going.

Of course the bigger the combo you get, the more your score multiplier will go up and get you a bigger score. Keep in mind though if you crash during your combo streak, the combo resets and you lose any points you were set to earn during that combo. So you may want to at times play it safe and land a jump without any manual or grind in order to bank the points.

Keep The Tricks Fresh

While working on these bigger combos, and just doing tricks in general you are going to want to keep things fresh. Constantly doing a front flip over and over again will result in the score for that trick giving you diminished returns. Doing that trick might be better than nothing if it’s all you have time to land, but doing different tricks will help you out even more.

Taking the time to check the tricktionary might do you some good to learn the tricks. With how fast paced the game is though you might find yourself just spamming whatever your thumb can muster up on the controller.

There’s a lot of tricks here, learn them all

Focus On One Thing At A Time

Another big thing when it comes to getting the gold medal on each level is the fact that you don’t need to do it all in one run. After you complete a run, your time and score will combine with any of your best scores. So for example, if you got a better score this run but your time was slower, your time for that level will just revert back to your previous best.

Your best approach might just be to focus on 1 section per run to perfect

This means that you can really focus on one thing at a time. If you are looking to get a gold time you can really focus on speed and getting through the track as quick as possible without really worrying about any tricks. Same for when you want to focus on a big score, how long it takes you to get through the track won’t matter as much.

This counts for collectibles and the Dares as well. Completing a Dare or finding a collectible will count once you have done it and complete a level and won’t need to be done ever again once you have them.

Build Your Special Gauge ASAP

After a few levels in chapter 1 as you learn the game you will learn about charging your special gauge. Charging this gauge will open up new, special tracks known as the 8 million roads that are often shortcuts and lead to collectibles that you can only collect on those tracks, which you of course need for the Dares.

The 8 million roads can lead to a lot of success, and collectibles

Some tracks will almost charge the gauge for you without doing too much, but others will have you work for it. Every jump you will want to do a trick or two to build it up. You can see how full the gauge is on the right side of your screen.

And that’s all the tips we have for you. Let’s joy forget the biggest tip of all though, to enjoy this fantastic game! We hope this guide has proved useful to you.
