A demo for About Fishing has been released on PC via Steam, following a new trailer showcase at the PC Gaming Show 2026 today. The upcoming fishing mystery game is from developer The Water Museum and publisher Playstack.
The demo runs approximately 40 to 60 minutes and includes content updated since the game’s earlier playtests. Developer Kevin of The Water Museum confirmed the release, noting that over 45,000 players participated across two rounds of playtesting. Additionally, the team received more than 4,000 feedback form responses, which helped improve the project. The demo introduces a new filleting mini-game and an aquarium for players to discover.

About Fishing blends the calm, meditative rhythm of fishing with a creeping undercurrent of mystery. Each catch draws players deeper into an unfolding narrative. Fish become guides toward fragments of something long forgotten beneath the surface. The world reacts to time and weather, NPCs follow daily routines, and the town gradually transforms as days pass. These moving parts pull players into a place that slowly begins to feel like home. However, About Fishing makes clear it is about more than relaxing by the water. The game’s mature content description references fish blood, guts, and murder.

The Water Museum is best known for the acclaimed Arctic Eggs, and About Fishing carries that same eerie sensibility. It combines PSX-style visuals with the atmospheric weight of games like Shenmue and Sega Bass Fishing. The game was first revealed at the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2025 in December last year before returning to the PC Gaming Show 2026 today with a new trailer and the surprise demo drop.
The full game currently does not have a release date. However, a PS5 version is also in development alongside the Steam release. Players can wishlist the full game ahead of its launch.

About Fishing is coming to PC and PlayStation 5. A free demo is available now on PC via Steam.
