House House’s co-op adventure finally has a launch window, and it’s coming sooner than you might think.

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Australian indie studio House House confirmed that Big Walk will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4th, 2026. A Steam page for the game is also live, confirming the date.

The reveal brings a firm release date to one of the most anticipated indie titles of the year.

First announced at The Game Awards 2023, Big Walk is a co-op online multiplayer adventure set on a remote island inspired by Australian bushland. Players take on the roles of bird-like creatures, exploring the open world on foot and solving puzzles together. However, the game’s central mechanic sets it apart from other co-op titles. This is a proximity chat system that changes how you hear your teammates depending on your position in the world. Stand close and conversation is clear. Drift too far away, duck into a tunnel, or step behind soundproof glass, and communication becomes a challenge in itself.

House House describes the game as being “mainly about doing two things: talking and walking.” That deceptively simple pitch belies a deeper focus on teamwork and coordination. Additionally, the proximity chat system means staying in range of your group won’t just be helpful. It will be essential to progress.

The studio is, of course, best known for Untitled Goose Game, which became a sleeper hit on Nintendo Switch after its 2019 launch and earned a dedicated fanbase for its offbeat humour and inventive design.

Big Walk continues that tradition of games built around a single, unusual idea taken to its logical extreme.

House House publishes the game alongside Panic, the same publisher behind Untitled Goose Game and the Playdate handheld. The partnership was confirmed ahead of the game’s original reveal. The two studios have collaborated closely throughout development.
