GTA VI Releasing in 2026

Sad news everyone, probably the most anticipated game of the year, is no longer releasing this year. The GTA VI release date is now in 2026

The hugely anticipated sequel to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V has now got a release date of 26 May 2026.

Rockstar have just confirmed this information via their social media.

In their post, Rockstar acknowledge the fan anticipation and excitement. They also note that they want to exceed the expectations of gamers around the world, stating that they “need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve”.

I, for one, am not surprised. I have long anticipated GTA VI not releasing this year. I’m very aware of Rockstar’s history of delaying games. When working in GAME, I was once holding a copy of GTA Vice City Stories for the PSP in my hand, and the game got delayed a week. Go figure.

This means the speculation around Borderlands 4 and Ghost of Yotei’s release date was inaccurate. I suspect Borderlands 4 moving their date forward was to give some breathing space because of Yotei, not the anticipated GTA VI release date.

How are you feeling about the delay?
