A challenger has finally stepped forward to release in November alongside Grand Theft Auto 6 – and it’s none other than the King of the Monsters. Atari has announced that developer Pipeworks Studios is remastering its classic kaiju fighting game Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, which is set for release this November.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee was originally released for GameCube and Xbox in 2002 and was a 2D fighting game set in the universe of Toho’s franchise. The game featured kaiju such as Godzilla, Destoroyah, Anguirus, and many more from the long lineage of monster movies, playable across single-player modes and competitive multiplayer.

Atari revealed today that Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered will update the 2002 game with improved visuals and quality of life features, including the ability to unlock characters and gallery items in any order. Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered will now also include online multiplayer for the first time, alongside new story modes for each kaiju.

This title marks Godzilla’s return to consoles since Bandai Namco’s heavily criticized 2014 game. Since then, the character has appeared as a crossover character in multiple titles such as Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

This remaster marks the first new title since Toho reiterated its desire to return to developing Godzilla video games following the success of Godzilla: Minus One. It just so happens that this remaster arrives just in time for the film’s sequel, Godzilla: Minus Zero, which releases on November 6. The game will also be receiving a physical release with a full Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered will release for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on November 3rd, 2026.
