LumenTale: Memories of Trey is a rich and engrossing creature-collector RPG set in the beautiful world of Talea, a land where humans and Animon live side by side. There’s a great deal to learn about Lumentale, even if you are an experienced creature-collector game fan, so we wanted to make a quick article going over some of the game’s fundamentals. Here is our LumenTale: Memories of Trey Beginner’s Guide

Beginner’s Guide
A quick note to thank the r/LumenTale subreddit community for helping polish this guide with their feedback.
Picking Your Starter

After the player character, Trey, wakes up in the world of Talea and meets Ales and his uncle Kapan, you’ll get the chance to pick your Starter Animon within the Anispace.

You have five to choose from, representing one of Lumentale’s unique mechanics, Attributes. Each Starter evolves twice; the second evolution leads to one of two options depending on certain criteria.

You’ll be happy to know that all of the Starter Animon can be found and caught in specific Zones that they spawn in, so you can fill out the AniWiki and see the other evolution, which is dependent on them evolving in either the North or South region of Talea.
Know Your Traits

Alongside your Animon’s elemental Type, which defines what moves they will learn, and what they are weak/resistant to, they have one of the five Attributes (in the order they are shown below, left to right, top to bottom):
Filicis – Furor – Mestus – Sereum – Horrens

Attributes are mentioned briefly early on in the game, but don’t come into effect later on when you unlock the ability to apply them to your Animon’s moves as Traits.

Once you’ve unlocked it, you can add your Animon’s Attribute to their action at the cost of 1 SP. This applies an effect specific to each Attribute. They are:
- Felicis – Enables an Animon to slightly heal its allies after attacking.
- Furor – Skill damage is directly increased.
- Mestus – This Animon uses a percentage of its HP to deal additional damage.
- Sereum – Increased chance for critical hits. Each critical hit grants 1 extra TP.
- Horrens – Neutralises an enemy’s resistance and makes an Animon’s next attack super effective if that attack would’ve defeated them.
Put Those Points To Good Use

When your Animon levels up, it earns 3 points that can be distributed among its six main stats. To do this, you need to access the Stat Management menu, which is located in the bottom right corner of your Squad menu screen or by viewing your Animon in the Anispace.

Every 3 points added to a stat raises it by 1, occasionally jumping by 2. You can redistribute these points at any time, so no need to worry about making a permanent decision.
Remember, while only four of your Animon go into battle, all six in your team receive EXP, so your extras will level up as well.
Scan, Scan, Then Scan Again!

Scanning your enemies doesn’t just tell you what your opponent is weak or strong against during battle; it also fills out your AniWiki, which is included in the LMD (Lumen Management Device) you receive from Julia when leaving Iris Hamlet at the end of the Prologue.

Once you have scanned an Animon three times, you will fill out their entry in the AniWiki, showing you their weaknesses and resistances, move list, evolution tree, and more.
Gotta Catch ‘Em All!

Catching Animon is done using Trey’s newly acquired Holoken and Bilias, the marble-like items you can buy from many shops and any Lumen centre. There are two different ways to catch Animon: in the field and in battle.

In the field, you throw your Holoken out at a wild Animon you want to catch while a Billia is equipped in the bottom right corner of your UI. Input the corresponding button prompt in the middle of the circle when the white line is in the greyed-out part of it.

In battle, you need to weaken the Animon you want to capture before attempting to catch it, so get its health low and then move your cursor onto it and pick the “Catch” option.
Travel Options

Slowly jogging everywhere would take a while, so thankfully, you start the game with the option to run by holding down the assigned button/key. You will be gifted a Holoboard by AARI at a certain point on your journey, depending on whether you went North or South (during “The Lagoon City” and “The City of Fire”, respectively).
While it’s the quickest way to get about ‘on foot’, you are unable to use your Holoken while shredding.

For longer distance travel, Lumentale actually has a fast travel system that it doesn’t do a very good job of showing you. Once you have visited your first Lumen Club in a city, it is unlocked, letting you travel to any Lumen Club you have visited before, including the ones in the outdoor Zones.
Look for the blue icon on your map and select “Yes” to fast travel to that location.
Healing On The Go

Early on, Ales teaches you how to use the fountains you find out in the Zones, and how you can interact with them to rest and prepare meals. But did you know you don’t have to interact with the fountain to be healed by it?

All you have to do is walk up close to a fountain and keep an eye out for a green particle effect accompanied by a jingle. This is your whole party of Animon being fully healed!
Yes Chef!
The other note about the fountains is that you can select who is prepping and cooking your food.

Depending on who is selected and which dish they are making, you will see the percentage chance of cooking the meal successfully adjust. Pick someone who gives you the best chance of success and enjoy a hearty dish!
Bonus Tip: In-Game Hints!

If you are looking for some more, slightly cryptic hints, it’s always worth checking the Gazzetta del Lumen newspaper at the back of the Lumen Clubs. A new issue is released every time you win a Match in a new city, and each one holds little secrets, from mysterious evolution requirements to the Wandering Collector!
