It wouldn’t be this time of year without a new Call Of Duty being announced. This year it’s Infinity Wards turn and they are indeed heading back to its legendary Modern Warfare series for Modern Warfare 4.
This will be the first Modern Warfare game since 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 which was one of the few Call Of Duty games to be almost universally disliked.
If the first trailer is anything to go by, Infinity Ward looks to be back on top of their game. Call Of Duty games always look incredible and Modern Warfare 4 is no different. Infact this is the first Call Of Duty game to be skipping the previous Xbox One and PlayStation 4 generation.
Picking Up Where Modern Warfare 3 Left Off
Modern Warefare 4 takes place shortly after the events of Modern Warfare 3. Captain Price has gone rogue on his mission to kill Vladimir Makarov. Modern Warfare 4 will follow that storyline as well as build its own with a huge new cast of characters.

The campaign, which will thankfully have an offline mode, will see players head to places like Korea, Paris and New York as we continue to globetrot in these games.
As per the announcement trailer the game is described as:
“War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the world in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. A young squad of South Korean soldiers fight to survive on the collapsing front lines, while half a world away a vengeful Captain Price wages a personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him. As Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control.”

Modern Warfare 4 will also be the first Call Of Duty to hit the Nintendo Switch 2. The game will release for PC, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23rd. As a reminder, it will no longer be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
We will also hear more about the game coming up in less than 2 weeks, presumably at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7th. This will detail the new DMZ and multiplayer experiences. You can find even more details over at the Activison-Blizzard website.
