Despite launching in just over two weeks, WB Games and TT Games have released the launch trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The trailer comes set to a classic track from 1995’s Batman Forever.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the fourth mainline entry in TT Games’ long-running cross between the DC Comics universe and Danish toy line. This entry is most noteworthy for its ambitious plan to combine almost all of the film adaptations of the caped crusader into a single narrative, set in a vast open-world Gotham City. The entry also introduces a combat system and stealth mechanics inspired by Rocksteady Studios’ Arkham series, which was last seen in 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight.
With the game gearing up for launch, publisher WB Games has released presumably the last trailer for Legacy of the Dark Knight. This trailer is set to none other than Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose”. For those too young or who don’t recall, the song was used heavily to promote Joel Schumacher’s Batman: Forever. It certainly sets an interesting tone for the game set aside its slapstick comedy, as is to be expected from the LEGO video game series.
The trailer itself showcases various scenes from the game, including Batman’s training under Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins, the Joker donning his nurse disguise from The Dark Knight, and a Poison Ivy design that seems inspired by Uma Thurman’s portrayal in the infamous Batman & Robin. We also get to hear a bit more of What We Do in the Shadows actor Matt Berry’s performance as Bane.
This looks to be one of the most ambitious entries in TT Games’ series yet, which is saying a lot coming off 2021’s LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. We’ll have an idea of how it turns out soon enough since early access begins only twelve days from now.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on May 22. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will release later this year.
