Warner Bros. and TT Games have let the dam break for news and information regarding LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, the long awaited fourth mainline LEGO Batman game. Today, they have given fans an overview of the caped crusader’s base of operations – the Batcave.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the first new mainline entry in DC Comics and TT Games’ beloved video game series since 2016’s LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. It also serves as a soft reboot of the series. This entry blends open-world exploration with stealth and action combat inspired by Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series, while also paying tribute to many of the film and TV adaptations of the beloved superhero.
Fresh off of revealing a new skin based on the ongoing Absolute Batman comic series, today WB Games has released a developer diary revealing how players will be spending their time between crime fighting shifts in Bruce Wayne’s Batcave. The trailer showcases many activities, including upgrading the characters’ abilities, combat training, character and base customization, mini-games, and more.
The developer diary also gives a fresh look at some scenes from the game. These include moments that seem to be adapting elements from Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight films, and even a few shots that seem to be drawing inspiration from Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Further gameplay exploring the Batcave is available on The Official Xbox Podcast.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on May 22. The Nintendo Switch version will be released later this year.
