How To Solve The Shrine Vault Puzzle in Silent Hill f

Not everything is terrifying or trying to kill you in Ebisugaoka; there are several puzzles to solve as you make your way through the town’s fog-wreathed streets. Here is our Shrine Vault Puzzle guide for Silent Hill f.

Struggling to find the right combination? We’re here to help!

Disclaimer: All of my puzzle guides posted on Gamer Social Club will be based on the Hard difficulty setting that you selected in the start of your playthrough for the puzzles. THIS IS THE DEFAULT SETTING. If you did not change your difficulty options, these guides should work for you. The puzzles and their solutions vary by the difficulty you selected, so make sure you are searching for the right guide.

The Puzzle: Find The Vault Combination

The second puzzle that Silent Hill f presents you with is a rather simple one that is explained to you as soon as the vault doors close in your face. Once you make it through the cutscene with the doll, make sure you pick up the clue next to her to learn what’s next.

Your goal is simple: Look at the wooden ema hanging from the three shrines to find the ones with the images of lightning, a decayed tree, and kudzu (green leaves with purple flowers). These are scattered around the area and will be easy to find by their reddish hues against the dark backdrop. There are three areas in total, with each one hiding a unique ema that holds the correct symbol on the back of it.

The First Code: Lightning

The Second Code: Decayed Tree

The Third Code: Kudzu (Purple Flower, Green Leaves)

The Finished Combination: Lightning, Tree, Kudzu

Once you have all three (Or hey, you can also just cheat and plug this in without finding them. I won’t judge.), return to the vault’s lock and enter the symbols in the same order we found them in. Here is the simplified version if you skipped straight down here:

  • Lightning Code: Circle with two reverse-facing parentheses in it.
  • Decayed Tree: Circle with a bow shooting to the right.
  • Kudzu: Square with a backwards J in it.

That was our Silent Hill f Shrine Vault Puzzle guide. For continued coverage on all the remaining Silent Hill f puzzles and their solutions, stay tuned as we will be posting all of them over the next few days!

In the meantime, you can check out the complete Silent Hill f achievement/trophy list here on the GSC.
