Today the studio behind Tales of Kenzera: Zau, revealed their second game Dead Take. The game was revealed in a teaser trailer. Dead Take is a first-person psychological horror game developed by Surgent Studios and published by Pocketpair. Dead Take is slated to release later this year, and you can wishlist the game now on Steam.

In Dead Take, you are an actor who decides to look for their missing friend after they can’t be reached by phone. You will have to brave a luxurious but haunted mansion to uncover the secrets and disappearance of your friend. We don’t get a lot of information from the teaser trailer, but that is by design, says CEO and studio founder Abubakar Salim. “We’re being secretive for a reason,” Salim said in a press release.

Their debut project Tales of Kenzera: Zau showed that the indie studio is more than capable of telling emotionally rich stories. We at Gamer Social Club gave it a 9 in our review stating:

Tales of Kenzera: Zau is beautiful game with a beautiful story about grief and self-reflection. The heartfelt characters you meet, you not only help them but they help you work through your own grief. Tales is filled with a heart pounding soundtrack that knows when to add to the ambience of the game. Impeccable job by Surgent Studios for the immense love shown to the Bantu culture throughout the game and making Swahili a language option in the game.

While no plans to bring it to console announced as of yet, we hope to see more of Dead Take later this year, possibly at some point during Summer Games Fest?

This will also mark Pocketpair’s official foray into the publishing side of the gaming world. Earlier this year the Palworld developer announced they would begin publishing games starting with Surgent Studios then unnamed horror game, which we of course now know is Dead Take.
